I’ve seen so many people moaning about us not getting a penalty. Watch it back Holding jumps for the ball and Wilf heads his hand into the ball it’s not a penalty. You can’t headbutt someone’s arm onto the ball and claim a penalty. I saw it on my stream and the pundits on my American stream said the same thing, no penalty. No idea what the sky pundits said. Can’t find a decent video of it but please post one to prove me wrong.

Don’t get me wrong I wish he’d given it, but you can’t blame the ref.

I saw that too.

He shouldn't have had his hand up there in that position. The ball was there for Wilf to head it, what is wilf supposed to do? Not go for the ball.

I've seen a lot of handballs in my life and that was worse than more than half of those given.

It was a penalty, ref looking straight at it and bottled it.

My question would be...are you trusting an American Broadcast company to understand football rules? That's where you're going wrong! Haha.

But I get your point but his hand shouldn't be there in the 1st place, penalty for me. Wilf was expecting a ball and not a hand Holding the ball...quick pun there.

Tbf you don't usually jump in football like you're going for the tip-off. It's a penalty all day long.

Also, if we're playing the "wilf headed his arm" game, he moves his arm into Wilfs face...

Must be true then.

It was handball. Simple as that.

We've all witnessed Morgan give away a penalty at Anfield when he didn't even touch the ball with his hand. Last night was as blatant as you will get.

Hi Arsene.... how are you doing?    These US pundits are probably Trump voters.

Look at holdings face after ,he had the look of a man who farted in the lift and got away with it.

That Morgan incident I can just about accept that the ref gave what he thought he saw but was hugely mistaken. Last night's, however, was blatant handball in full view of the referee. Even allowing for Wilf and Holding colliding as they jumped, but Holding's arm was always in an unnatural position that was bound to interfere with the flight of the ball. A nailed on penalty, the question has to be why it wasn't given.

IT WAS A PENALTY FFS !!!

And would havre changed the match and very likely the result ....   what chance have we got when refs bottle it in favour of the 'big' clubs at home.   Fvckin ref cost us.

It was a clear penalty and second yellow card. Thought it at the ground and still think it. Also spoke to four work colleagues today who are Arsenal fans and were also at the game and they said exactly the same.  Not even any debate about it.

That is not in a natural position.

The ref has the clearest view of anyone.

What some people are calling a push from Wilf is actually Holding moving his hand to block him from getting his head on the ball.

Sorry, but this was a clear handball and a stonewall second yellow.

The ref bottled it, which led to an unfair game against 11 when it should have been 10.

Thanks for the clip, but disagree about his arm being in an unnatural position, everyone who jumps for the ball jumps with their arms up and brings them down as they jump. Both Holding’s arms go up as he jumps his left arm starts to come down the same time as his right Wilf has his left arm on Holding’s shoulder for leverage in doing so he blocks him from bringing his arm down and causes Holding’s arm to ricochet off his head and towards the ball.

Holding does not move his arm to the ball, why would he the ball is going straight to his head?

Look at everyone jumping for the ball in that clip everyone uses their arms to jump, we’re not penguins. Look at Wilf’s right arm it’s as high as Holdings. You use your arms for leverage. If Wilf wasn’t there he would have brought his right arm down the same way he did his left.

It does seem inconceivable that the ref didn’t see it, he looked to be in a great position, so I’d love to hear why he did not deem it to be an offence.

Me too, but refs aren’t allowed to give comment on decisions. (Interesting interview with Howard Webb on the football ramble expressing his frustration at listening to pundits trying to second guess his decision making and not being able to say why he made that decision or even just to say “I made a mistake”.)
