The Foxes sent a scout to the Maksimir Stadium for Thursday night’s Europa League group game against Anderlecht, where reports claim Olmo was the subject of much interest.

A host of European clubs were there to check on the 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who has caught the eye with his displays for the Croatian league leaders.

Borussia Dortmund, Roma, AC Milan, Real Betis and Sevilla were also represented and Dinamo expect to receive some significant offers for their star turn next month.

Leicester snapped up 21-year-old centre-back Filip Benkovic from the same club last summer and have seen him flourish on loan at Celtic, so could be hoping to find another gem in Olmo.

He sounds an interesting one: https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/dani-olmo-the-ex-barca-youth-star-who-quit-la-masia-and/73ch4fot6n331s2wga3gg8p0z

Ex-Barcelona youth player who opted to leave for Zagreb at 16, despite not speaking Croatian/English, and has been a Dinamo regular ever since (100+ appearances, a few goals, Europa/CL football). Now in Spain U21s.

Depends what country he fancies playing in, I suppose. Some of the other clubs mentioned might be a bigger draw, but if he fancies trying Premier League....

We should get him in.  Centre midfield is our biggest problem position in my opinion.

He's a winger isn't he?

Now we are talking. Looks like we will have a lot of competition if interested, but seeing that he left Barca's academy to get game time in Croatia he may see us as a good option at his age. Especially with how we are giving young players game time.

Or alternatively he'll see that his mate Benkovic was signed and farmed straight out on loan.

Probably not as someone would find that offensive in this day and age. Can't say anything these days unfortunately ?

Don’t think Maddison’s ego could deal with a better Number 10 coming into the club. Doubt we will get him.

Eh? Where's this come from? Maddison always comes across as pretty humble and down-to-earth to me.

He actually plays as a central midfielder, but like any classy Croatian player, has the mental capacity to drift around the pitch to pick the right position and influence the game. Honestly looking at those clips, he reminds me a LOT of Luka Modric, specifically the elegant first touch, ability to shift the ball very quickly from one foot to another to create half a yard, and some of his passing was phenomenal. On top of that, he also appears to be a good dribbler too! He plays a bit deeper, so more like the role Rakitic plays for Croatia... but then he's not too shabby either!

Modric went to Spurs from Dinamo Zagreb before going off to Real Madrid and eventually winning the Balon d'Or. Not saying this guy will be that good, but boy this guy looks like the sort of player that will eventually end up playing in a top league for a very decent club. I'd think at worst he'd end up like Kramaric who is playing great at European and International level.

For me this type of player would be a very easy yes, and could improve us in an area where we are sorely lacking. Mendy and Ndidi give the team a platform to build on, but they don't really create too much. Mendy I think is the better of the two and has some ability to run the game, but not in a Rakitic style of way.

We would be a perfect club for him, a team who gives young players a chance and try to play technical football. Of course, there have been a whole slew of "next Modric" types coming out of Croatia and most have understandably failed, but then Kramaric surely teaches us all to me more patient. We let him go and signed Musa and Slimani instead, and well... look how that turned out!

Gerrimin! But I think he'll end up at a Sevilla or Roma personally.

He's Spanish mate!

So he is! I assumed he had some Croatian heritage (e.g. mother's side), but no he is fully Spanish! Well regardless a midfielder that was at La Masia and plays for the top Croat sides... these are the credentials of a top class midfield player!

Bloke sits in pub and gives six people 500 euros each. His friends smile to each other and tell him he’s daft for giving away money he doesn’t have on a pipe dream.

Olmo takes a swig of his beer and replies. “Guys, trust me - you have know idea how Leicester sign and scout players, once my highlights reel shows me dribbling through the six of you they’ll sign me up on £75K a week.
