Goal Song

Recommended Posts

Posted

Obviously after the 'Copter Crash, we stopped playing our goal song (Kasabian-Fire) after goals at home games, For Obvious Reasons.

Was Wondering if we still weren't using it or whether we'd used a different one?

If we are going to use a different one, Belt the bloody reply button with suggestions down below.

If you need music to prompt you to celebrate a goal then you shouldn't be in the ground.

Not saying I like goal music but its not there to prompt celebration, more to enhance it.

Either way it should not be needed.

No need for goal music. We were fine before goal music. I do like the radio Leicester klaxon though.

For many years throughout my childhood i genuinely thought they only played that when we scored goals during away games. It took me longer than i care to admit to realise that i only heard it during away games because i only listened to away games on the radio, because i had a season ticket for the home games

There's nothing wrong with having goal music; it can enhance the atmosphere and adds a little something, even more so if it matches the character and direction of the team. As for my suggestion, I'd go with the theme for SpongeBob. It fits the Puel ethos perfectly, and I'll explain why:

Are you ready, kids?

I said, are you ready?

(The above references Claude's youth project and bringing talented young players into the fold. Also, according to sources, Gray hears the entire song in his head 90% of the time.)

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

SpongeBob SquarePants*

Absorbent and yellow and porous is he

SpongeBob SquarePants*

(Pineapple > Pineapple Pizza > Ranieri. We're a club that never forgets the good times. Absorbent/Yellow/Porous references our playing style, with the team absorbing new information, which has left us watching the odd cowardly display against lower-tier teams and our permeable or porous backline has suffered at times.)

If nautical nonsense is something you wish

SpongeBob SquarePants*

Then drop on the deck and flop like a fish

SpongeBob SquarePants*

(Nautical nonsense refers to our league table navigation, with us being all over the place. Puel is here to create stability. The flopping fish is a shoutout to Shinji and Maddison.)

* The repeated parts refer to Puel's tactical repetition. He loves that shit.

The same goes for that snare drum, you don’t need that to sing a chant but if they insist on using it please get someone who has had drum lessons.

Does anybody of a more mature age know why RL started playing the goal klaxon? I used to think it was only for goals away from home when I used to hear it when I was young but I could be mistaken.

It’s there to control celebrations, when the music stops sit back down, hadn’t realised it had stopped, haven’t missed it and hope they don’t bring any back
