Guest Col city fan Posted 16 January 2019 Posted 16 January 2019 Hope he does really well. Not for Forest, of course, but for Martin himself Love the man.

Koke Posted 16 January 2019 Posted 16 January 2019 O'Neil is a dinosaur and football has long passed him by. I love the man but his time has gone.

Gubbins Posted 17 January 2019 Posted 17 January 2019 There has been a bit of a Pearson effect with O Neil's decline as I'm pretty sure John Robertson hasn't worked with him since Villa (not sure about Steve Walford) This hasn't affected him as badly as Pearson as he was and is a far better manager but I think he's definitely suffered from not having his old backroom team with him. Anyway seeing as it's Forest I hope he fails miserably!
Guest Manini Posted 17 January 2019 Posted 17 January 2019 How did he do a bad job at Villa? Didn’t he get them in to Europe? He also didn’t do TOO bad at Sunderland either, look where they are now I’m sure if you ask S’land fans they’ll tell you they’ve been on the decline since he left. Good luck to him. I love the bloke.

Countryfox Posted 18 January 2019 Posted 18 January 2019 Get ready for a few more blasts from the past now he’s back ... still makes me smile though ... A great manager at club and international level who learnt a lot from a another great manager at club and (should have been) international level ....
Countryfox Posted 18 January 2019 Posted 18 January 2019 Two very different approaches from those crappy midland teams up the road from us ... young aspiring manager versus experienced ‘perhaps on the way down’ manager ... wonder who will be more successful ?? Lampard has inherited the better team/squad but I still think MON will give him a run for his money ... going to be an interesting one.

Agreed still one of the top managers in Britain and should be managing in the premier league, his bad move was going into international football. I think he missed the day to day running of a club, rather than meeting up with the squad every now and then. Did an amazing job at Villa and I think they were just one season away from a champions league finish if it wasn't for Lerner pulling the plug on the project. Sunderland was very harsh sacking I can remember, they a bit of run or summit like no win in five and just decided to sack him.

Yeah you're right. got the two mixed up - Maybury scored a decent goal against Derby at our place years ago, wasn't a great player mind. Think I'm getting them confused because Rogers was talking shight in the press either the season we beat them into the Championship Play-Off's or the season we won the Prem and completely forgot about when he played for us.

He is not 1 of the top managers in this country, that is absolute nonsense
SystonFox Posted 18 January 2019 Posted 18 January 2019 Hopefully he keeps them languishing in mid table not doing anything for years often with false promise of top 6 early on in the season only to capitulate after Christmas and finish somewhere around 16th.
