Assuming Tielemens signs... what do we do about CM?

Recommended Posts

I'm confused about whats happening with Silva, Reports saying Claude wants him and he didn't want to let him go and then people saying hes part of a loan swap with Tielmans. I am confusion.

Also we have too many CMs. It would be unfair to drop Ndidi mendy and or choudry. Also the move would be bad for Hamzas development.

3 CMs, Ndidi mendy and or choudry playing just behind Tielmans further forward in a 4-3-3?

Silva definitely going as part of the loan swap. Puel just constantly bigs up everyone and says they are important and that there's absolutely no need for anyone else to come into the squad...and then before you know it you have three new defenders and an attacking midfielder!

Puel clearly doesn't want Silva, but until a player is gone you can't exactly come out and saying "Well he's shite, thank Christ I don't have to worry about him any more". You're going to say all nice things in case the player is actually needed at some point.

Manager cannot and will not tell the truth and say exactly what they think, they also have to man manage people and doing so would damage that.

Maddison on the wing doesn't work..

I'd say Tielemans and Ndidi against everyone outside of the top 6, with an attacking front four

Ndidi Tielemans Mendy/Choudhury against the top 6.

We really need to stop trying Maddison on the wing tbqh. As much as I do like him at 10, he's ****ing dreadful out wide.

Can't beat any half decent full back, spends the whole game lost and out of position and leaves Vardy way isolated.

Needs to be Barnes if we insist on 433.

I imagine by the time Palace comes around it'll be a reasonably settled team:

Kasper

Ricky Evans Maguire Chilwell

Tielmans Wilf

Wing Maddison Wing

Vardy

Where the wings are any two of Albrighton, Gray and Barnes.

With Chilwell playing such a high line it leaves no room for Barnes. He thrives on cutting in from half way line or just beyond or  through the middle.

He is not really a typical whip the ball in type as Albrighton + would be a bit wasted as Vardy not the tallest and usually crowded out by the time the balls delivered.

Madison and Barnes behind Vardy for me

all our wingers are pretty meh lets be honest. we just need a formation to fit barnes and maddison in centrally along with Vardy and leave the width to pereira / chilwell.

Problem with that is it leaves you with either the two defensive midfielders to cover the space left by the full backs or a third centre half.

You could do a sort of 4222 with Mendy and Ndidi behind Barnes and Maddison and the full backs providing width but I think that's a very FIFA formation for me. Its not really a shape that any team has seriously ever played with ant success is it?

I think the idea of having two number tens behind Vardy is a bit of a fantasy.

I've wanted to see 352 all season and I still kinda do tbh. I'd like to see Vardy and Barnes with a channel each to run in to and Maddison sitting behind them with overlapping width coming from Ricardo and Chilwell, that'd be great imo.

You'd have Tielmans keeping it all ticking doing for us what Neves does for Wolves, popping long passes etc and you'd have Ndidi just doing the Makelele bit, tackling and immediately playing it two yards to Tielmans.

Would like to see this at some point before the end of the season....

Kasper

Ricardo     Evans     Maguire     Chilwell

Tielemans         Ndidi

Gray         Maddison       Barnes

Vardy

4-3-3

Tielemans - Ndidi - Choudhury

Maddison - Vardy - Gray/Barnes across the top.

What has Ndidi done to warrant a place recently?

We are overloaded with midfielders, not sure why we’ve bought another one.

A striker to play up front with Vardy in a 3-5-2 is desperately needed.

I really hope the rumours coming out today that there is no option to sign permanently are untrue. If we just get him on loan Id change my previous post and have him on the bench. I`ll much prefer to give our players a chance instead of a loan player that has no future here.

Think its very possible you could see that against Palace. Maybe Gray out for Albrighton depends who trains better that week.

Exactly the side and formation I would like to see.

Evans and Maguire needs to be given a chance as they're probably our best two CB's and Morgan is the past not the future.

Ricardo and Chilwell are up there amongst the best full back pairings in the league who offer everything you want in modern full backs.

Such a young side with the five midfielders. Maddison needs to play centrally in the pockets and Gray and Barnes need to prove themselves if we are to persevere with them next season. Ndidi and Tielemans could be a top drawer CM partnership in a couple of years. It will be good to see a more creative CM alongside Ndidi.

Puel need to praise him so Monaco didn't feel we are desperately want him to get rid.

Otherwise, they might think twice before accepting our loan swap deals

Lets be honest. This guy didn't even play in cup games where James and King play.

Sadly I think 3-5-2 is one of those things that isn't ever going to happen despite it theoretically making a huge amount of sense. We've got the perfect players for the wing-back positions already, we've seen Maguire excel in a 3 for England and to a lesser extent Hull, Maddison gets to play central and Vardy doesn't have to be isolated on his own. It's weird because he's tried it at times in games but never for any sustained period. I think I remember Rodgers playing a 3 with a Liverpool at points so if it is him that comes in the summer we might see if it's as effective as it looks on paper.

Two players are duplicative, Ndidi and Mendy. One sits.

Though perhaps a better option -- at least against teams trying to sit back and defend -- woukd be the 4231 with Vardy as the odd man out.

So we'd go with Gray, Mads, Tiel, and Barnes up front, 2 of Ndidi, Mendy, and Hamza, with Chilwell and Ricardo at FB. This is probably our best line-up for racking a team parking the bus

In all honesty, this is starting to feel like a deal to be rid of Silva, nor a deal to bring in Tiel. If we only have him for 13 or so games, and it will take him time to adjust to the league (and weather), at acclimates socially, he's basically gone before we know it. We nees an option to buy, even if it is at 40 mill. If he works and we are suddenly able to switch between styles effectively, yes that proves Claude is the guy going fwd, but we obv need Tiel back then. I'd rather integrate Silva than train up Tiel for 3 months

Vardy leaves Vardy isolated. He needs to come baxk to the ball when we play a 4231 and give umhis teammates another outlet around the penalty box.

In the 4231, wings need to be Barnes and Gray. Albrighton can be great situationally, but his crosses tend to be a waste of possession with the players we have on the end. Better to have 1-on-1 troublemakers who can beat defenders and create for teammates on the outside.
