I mean he's an absolute mess of a manager and we are complete garbage but i'm pretty sure we have more points from losing positions than anyone else in the league?

good job as well tbf seen as we find ourselves in losing positions in literally every game we play. we've conceded first in 11 of our last 13 games, quite often early doors as well. quite remarkable, that.

So long as he keeps preaching his intensity and quality comments in order to strike that balance he so dearly craves, something is bound to stick sooner or later... lol

Another worrying statistic is Puel's inability to change a losing scenario into a winning one in any game he's managed at this level.

It's never happened.

That's shocking.  He calls for his intensity and quality and yet the team comes out and does the exact opposite every game.  Just what is the bloke saying to the players before games?

We are leading in points won from coming from behind this season?

As has been said by others and on RL this evening... he is not the sort of personality to inspire the players to run through walls in his pre-game chat to the players. Result they take a while to get mentally upto speed and have a habit of letting in a goal before they eventually get a move on.

....well its a compelling view of the situation we have seen many times.

The reason we are better away from home is because we still offer zero danger as a team except for playing counter attacking football. Teams have wised up to this and it's simple, we gift teams the lead and then they sit back and we spend the rest of the game laboured and lofting in aimless crosses. It is happening nearly every home game we play bar the odd game where a team comes an takes the game to us. Watford are the last team i'd class as of similar ilk to us or worse who came and tried to attack us and we picked them off. When was the last time we beat a team that sat back on us? Huddersfield at home, who are one of the worst teams to ever grace the Premier League. It's the only home win since incidentally Huddersfield and Watford this time last year against a team who sits back on us. That has just nearly made me chunder. We are so easy to play against, I'm surprised the bigger teams don't do it to us as well as they are missing a trick.

Even that game we went behind, scored an equaliser on the counter from their corner which I was absolutely amazed by at the time given they were 0-1 up and capable of parking the bus when they need to (think Chelsea away last season for them), how they allowed it I've no idea. We then needed a brilliant free kick to get the lead.

I'm not discounting a win because you can't, but I don't think that game proves that we have a consistent solution.

The day we start opening teams up and scoring goals under Puel is the day I'll buy into him. I've seen us fail to do it so long under him that I'm not holding out any hope at all, Tielemans is the last roll of the rice for me but knowing us we'll give him about 5 starts and a few sub appearances.

I say this but I still think he's gone in the summer anyway. I'm not convinced he's got the players on side reading between the lines.

lol if that was the case we'd be about 80% relegated by now.

How long has the atmosphere been toxic?

Bloody ages mate. Not just the last few games. Can remember fans singing you don't know what your doing last season. It is without doubt now affecting performances. Confidence would have ironed out some of these problems a while ago imo.

5th best away form over the last 8 away games, 3rd worst home form: https://www.soccerstats.com/formtable.asp?league=england

Wonder what the difference could be. Couldn't possibly be the toxic atmosphere at home that the players are free from away...

This was so predictable.

Over a year ago It was clear that the atmosphere would suffer because of the style of football, and I wrote as much.

People are not happy with zero entertainment and relegation home form over 12 months.

Please please Top start looking for a positive tactically aware coach for when you sack this ****er in May.

It’s absolutely comical that posters on here still defend this shambles of a manager.

I'm not clear, do you have a bigger issue with Puel or people with a different point of view?

This.

Watching all the matches out here, all I hear is moaning, groaning and booing from home fans. I hear the opposition fans singing and our fans helping them out with the toxic and poisonous atmosphere they are creating.

No wonder we are playing well away from home. The players must relish the away games and dread the home games.

Conceding early in games is a big part of this problem. There seems to be a nervy energy amongst the players until we go a goal down, and partly because they are young and inexperienced but I think atmosphere inside the ground is definitely contributing to it as well, there's more groans and moans than clappers and cheering now.

I've just checked the results.  You are correct.  The BBC talks **** once again on matchday stats.  Who employs these people?  lol

Yh, we are actually the team that have won the most points from losing positions (which I guess is not surprising as we go 1-0 down every game). Think we have won something like 13 from losing positions.

Southampton 0-1 to 2-1 - 3 points

Huddersfield 0-1 to 3-1 - 3 points

West Ham 0-1 to 1-1 - 1 point

Brighton 0-1 to 1-1 - 1 point

Fulham 0-1 to 1-1 - 1 point

Manchester City 0-1 to 2-1 - 3 points

Liverpool 0-1 to 1-1 - 1 point

Isn't our second half record away from home weirdly good? I know it's a bit of a nothing table but I'm sure we're comfortably top of it.

Then again we even won the second half at Bournemouth technically lol

Was looking over that the other day, very interesting. Yes, it's just stats but it does say a bit about how our games have gone (in particular the goals scored and conceded by 10 minute chunks - right at the bottom of that page). You can also break it down by home and away only.

Pretty much proves slow starts, conceding a lot of goals but stabilising our game into the second half.

Remember two of those home games against ten men and teams leading ....

when we concede the lead against the non top six clubs they are clearly going to try and just defend their goal second half, knowing we will probably just huff and puff for 45 mins - that’s also distorts our second halves re ‘dominance’

No problem with post in general but the bit in bold is questionable. It’s not the first time it has happened as Ghezzal has come on, it may be ithat the booing is directed elsewhere, but that subtle distinction is nigh on impossible to divine for the poor bugger coming on.

Like I said, it is all about opinions, and only those that boo, know who or what they are booing for... I just got the feeling that on this occasion, it was fans booing the manager and his substitution choice (which also isn't new)

I don't have any problem with Ghezzal, he actually did more than Gray and probably would've been the better choice to replace.

I'd imagine people continue to defend certain aspects of his tenure, because other people are continuously saying over the top things, like saying a man who has two top 10 finishes in the last two seasons and is currently 1 point off doing the same again is a "shambles of a manager".  Despite not exactly being in very good form we're still above 8 other teams in the 8 game form table, and that's having faced Liverpool, Man U, Wolves, Chelsea, Man City and Everton.

Things are painfully average and performance levels can't go on like this for ever, but we've been no more of a shambles this season than those around us, if we had been we wouldn't be near them still.

As I've said all along, he had until the end of the season to see a performance improvement. It's not looking likely, so we'll probably need to freshen things up in the summer. But I don't think it's the disaster people are making out, this is often the life of midtable teams.
