Vardinio'sCat Posted 24 February 2019 Posted 24 February 2019 Stick him in charge as caretaker, to take the immediate pressure off.

Wymsey Posted 24 February 2019 Posted 24 February 2019 Why do some want him to return, especially when there's been rumours of him not getting along with some of the club's staff not too long ago?

He’s been massively complementary towards the club and the players every time he’s interviewed on it. He gets along well with the players and can motivate them (as admitted by Huth today), without being too close to them like Shakey/Pearson would be. He definitely didn’t get on with Puel, but I don’t recall anything about issues with other staff members?

If you look at matters closely there does seem to have been a common theme, a central figure, an antagonist if you will, I just wish I could put my finger on it,what ever it was, it does seem to have gone now.

Hadn't picked that up at all. Obviously, if that were the case it would be a different matter.
mozartfox Posted 25 February 2019 Posted 25 February 2019 I would happy with Neil Lennon JUST until the end of the season. This will give us time to get this decision right. NO contract extensions handed out to any one please. Let the new man sift through squad early doors and make all the critical decisions on playing staff and on the coaches.

oxford blue Posted 25 February 2019 Posted 25 February 2019 If we can't get Brendan Rodgers (or another) immediately, Appleton has to be the obvious choice for a temporary manager. He knows the club and players and was respected by the team (as ar as I know) - it was Puel he did not get along with. He will be looking for a new challenge and if he gets the interim job here, it gives him the opportunity to do well and the liklehood he will get offered the opporunity to manage a Championship club (and I think he would prefer that to Hibs - no disrespect to any Hibs fans). If we were to be appointed, I'm sure he will get the best out of Vardy which is essential to the current success, or otherwise.
Paninistickers Posted 25 February 2019 Posted 25 February 2019 I wonder if Appleton is still on the payroll? Most sacking compensation cases take some years to sort out and as I understand it, the sacked party is often on the payroll until they pick.up another job
LCCFox96 Posted 25 February 2019 Posted 25 February 2019 Appleton would be my pick over any of the other names being thrown about for solely interim managers. He's someone who was involved recently and knows the majority of the current squad well. It makes far more sense than going for someone completely new to the group like Lennon, or even bringing Pearson back in. It's a case of hitting 40 points, pushing on as far as we can from there and regrouping in the summer so a familiar face might well be the way to go.
Clever Fox Posted 25 February 2019 Posted 25 February 2019 He's readily available and would be a good choice given that he knows the squad. He also likes playing Football which would suit the squad. He'd also up the physical training which is something that's been lacking under Puel. Then if he does well who knows what happens in the Summer.
Mike Oxlong Posted 26 February 2019 Posted 26 February 2019 Congratulations to Michael Appleton on his impending appointment as manager of Hibs Celtic. I'm sure he'll be a big success up there. As Caretaker manager for us he steadied the ship after Shakespeare's departure and was a major factor in our top half finish last season.
