Foxes04 Posted 17 March 2019 Posted 17 March 2019 Personally prefer Ronaldo but Messis hat trick was just ?
Adster Posted 17 March 2019 Posted 17 March 2019 Can't we just appreciate both for what great talents they are? Why does something always have to be better than something else in this world?
AKCJ Posted 17 March 2019 Posted 17 March 2019 Messi. His hat trick tonight needs to be seen to be believed.
lcfcdamo Posted 17 March 2019 Posted 17 March 2019 Messi easy I've just watched messi score another amazing hattrick he creates so much has well had score so many he makes everything look so easy Ronaldo only matches him with goals that is all!!
Samilktray Posted 17 March 2019 Posted 17 March 2019 May aswell just enjoy them both whilst they’re still active. This debate became boring years ago
TheSomersetFox Posted 17 March 2019 Posted 17 March 2019 Prefer Messi, always said he’s the better of the 2 but in recent years Ronaldo’s proved they’re pretty much inseparable. Both absolute phenomenons, love watching them
AS78UK Posted 17 March 2019 Posted 17 March 2019 Ronaldo edges it for me, proved himself in different teams and across different leagues. He is an arrogant twat though.
Charl91 Posted 17 March 2019 Posted 17 March 2019 Never really thought the two of them are even close enough to compare. Clearly Messi, though Ronaldo is best of the rest. Ronaldo is an amazing goal scorer, but Messi is essentially the best goal scorer and the best midfielder in the world at the same time.

Mr Mister Posted 17 March 2019 Posted 17 March 2019 Ronaldo as he has been the driving force behind Man Utd, Real Madrid and Portugal's triumphs.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 17 March 2019 Posted 17 March 2019 they're on the same level, if I had to have one as a manager I'd probably edge towards Ronaldo even though i prefer messi

It's just I've never seen Ronaldo run a game in the same way that Messi does. Maybe others think differently, and that's fine, but for me it's not even close.

Not doubting he's a great player, he's a great striker, but doesn't have nearly as much influence on the other aspects of the game as Messi does. If you go by goal scoring statistics alone, then they look very similar, but to be honest I think going just by goals alone is a disservice to Messi.
Guest the fox Posted 17 March 2019 Posted 17 March 2019 Messi's misfortune is that he elevates his team so much and covers so many weak points that it becomes a detriment to his greatness and his team's strength so when Messi can't run the show, his teammates sometimes can't compensate. He can do it all and sometimes it effects him. Ronaldo underperformed in the two semifinals and final of last year and Madrid still won. Barca wouldn't have done that. Let's put it this way, The reason Ronaldo is somehow in the convo is because Messi failed to win with Argentina (which is partially his fault). Messi's failures, not Ronaldo's success is what elevated Ronaldo to the convo for the GOAT. The eye-test favor Messi, the stats favor Messi, the opinions of past all-time great footballers favor Messi. Disclaimer: that was my opinion.
Fox in the North Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 Messi is better in terms of technical skill and vision for me, but then he can’t match ronaldo for pure athleticism.
Jattdogg Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 From a jordan/kobe gimme the ball perspective, Ronaldo. Both are excellent players. Id take ronaldo from a straight up attacking perspective but i think messi has the advantage at makng many more around him better. And he scores goals. Im 50-50.
foxy boxing Posted 18 March 2019 Posted 18 March 2019 Messi has no ego. Messi just gets on with scoring goals and doing what he does with Ronaldo as much as he is a fantastic footballer and deserves all the credit he gets and more it is all about the personality.
