Portuguese striker Andre Silva has an uncertain future when the end of the season approaches. The international striker for his country is currently injured, but after his alarming decline in performance and due to the high cost of the operation hardly Sevilla will bet on its continuity in the Sánchez Pizjuán.

A ndre Silva arrived last summer at Sevilla on loan from Milan in exchange for 4 million euros and a purchase option of 39 million euros, a figure that the Nervion leaders rushed to promise that the club would pay when the Portuguese shot in the scoring charts in the first seven games of the League.

But his performance was alarmingly descending until disappearing from the lineups of Pablo Machín first and then Joaquín Caparrós .

Currently the Portuguese is out of the dynamics of the team because of some discomfort in the patellar tendon and Sevilla has already decided that he will not pay 39 million for him. In any case he has let Milan know that this amount would have to reduce it a lot.

The future of the player therefore is an unknown right now. In Italy they assure that Milan wants to recover it but to include it in some operation in the market. The Italians want French Thauvin after the signing of Piatek.

Meanwhile, the opinion of Jorge Mendes, his representative , should have a lot of weight in the future of the player. Monaco, Valencia and Leicester are possible destinations that have been targeted for the striker.

Interesting name to be linked with, he played against us for Porto in 2016 and looked dangerous.

 

Clearly after moved to Milan and Sevilla, his career has taken a downward turn but that doesn't meant he should be ruled out. Youri Tielemans didn't fit into Leo Jardim's plans at Monaco, and he's not turned out to be too shabby eh? Realistically this is the type of player we will end up taking risks on. Sure in an ideal world we'd sign the very best young players in the world like Jadon Sancho, Mathijs De Light, Joao Felix and David Neres, but we don't live in that world. We live in a world where Leicester are a very solid midtable Premier League club trying to push up the table and break the top 6. To do that it means either finding players that top clubs don't yet know about, or taking a punt on players for whom a move didn't work out for but that still have the potential to make it in a big way like Tielemans.

 

After the Ihenacho fiasco my suggestion would be to go the Tielemans route; sign a player like this on loan for a season and see how they do. If they smash it, then we sign them up and if not, then we don't waste our money. He's young, has plenty of match experience and his value could still rise massively if he performed, all things that fit with our current squad ethos.

 

Of the strikers we have been linked with, we have:

- Sturridge. Free transfer but high wages and massively injury prone and getting on. Brilliant talent when he's not in A&E.

- Che Adams. A local Leicester lad, raw but physical with a great attitude and potential. Probably happy to play second fiddle for a season or two. Questions over if he can make the step up and the transfer fee might be expensive.

- Andre Silva. Flopped at two major European clubs. Confidence player that has suffered a number of injuries. Massive potential but hasn't lived up to it so far.

 

There's pros and cons to all of them. Adams is the one I'd like to see because I think his route through non-league and Leicester roots would fit right in with our team and club. He's the sort I think would give it 110% every training session and could be moulded by someone savvy like Rodgers. But at the same time, the very best strikers tend to have natural finishing ability and the other two have proven ability in that area at a higher level as well as a high technical ability.

The plot thickens!

Look at Eintract Frankfurt, they are a mix of young stars, players who fell out of favour at other clubs and some experienced players. Sometimes the best value players are players who have flopped but had potential, in the right setup they are liquid gold once again.

id like to think after tielemans singing on loan, people wouldn’t write someone off so quickly because they had an unsuccessful stint at their current club...:

 

 

id be up for a loan with view to a permanent deal should he play well. if not then bin. nothing lost.

we don’t want someone that is shot on confidence that is going to be a sub.

you can take that risk with a loan signing with view to a permanent. Adrien silva and tielemans were both out of form and confidence but a switch can work wonders- look at them both now!

I don’t think Adams goes for less than 15m. At the time of writing he’s on 22 goals despite Brum being lower table after their points deduction. Maddison was 24m last season and Ben Gibson I believe was around 15m. Players from the championship aren’t cheap once they’ve proved they can make it in that league. 

 

I still like the player though.

Very difficult to have that luxury, whoever comes here has a huge job to get in over Vardy. They either play on the wing or up front like Son does and therefore will play with Vardy or instead of him when unavailable, or they have to take their chances when they come.

 

This lad does need regular football but that doesnt mean we couldn't get a tune out of him.

Seems to be a few gunning for a loan with an option to purchase. Doing so will pretty much always make perfect sense for the potential buyers but it's rarely the approach used because most of the time it's not in the seller's interests: Either they've put their player up for sale for a reason or they're not willing to lose them, either way it's much easier to push the deal through if you're offering hard cash and not just a temporary reprieve from paying wages with maybe some hard cash further down the line.  

 

It's worked with Tielemans but you should consider that an exception to the rule, not an indication that we should always go the loan route first, it just isn't realistic.

Another striker like Petagna who links play and can act as a target. If the names aren’t right, the style is consistent. Andre Silva is a lot pacier than Petagna but less prolific. Could be interesting on a loan.
