Brilliant fan base - winning cups and titles and building one of the best sides in Prem history was not good enough to keep Wenger in a job
Mickey O'Neil Posted 4 November 2019 Posted 4 November 2019 That fvcking Rupert with long hair is blinkered. All he can see is the name Arsenal is bigger than Leicester. Forget that we are run better. Forget we have a supportive chairman. While the past is important for pulling in names, I personally think it's where you are now and where you are going. Yes, timing is important in football and you may only get one chance. Ask Vardy if he regrets not going Arsenal. I bet the answer is no. He may wonder about that move, but regret, I don't think so. Fair play to the Geordie 🤘He can see what it's about Great watch, thanks got posting.
The whole world smiles Posted 4 November 2019 Posted 4 November 2019 The floppy haired tw*t perfectly sums up what we are going up against. The established thinking for an awful long time in british football is that the usual big clubs are everything. This thinking is engrained into the sub-concienceness of the media (pundits and writers). We are going against the grain and challenging that established thinking and people like this **** and Gary Neville and Chris Sutton etc etc just can't get their head around it. They will catch up eventually.

Not for the fvcking repetition and a pay check. I know I'm not enlightening anyone here but Rodgers actually loves his job. He's into it and he's talented. Lucky for him that he found his passion and the belief to make it happen so young in life. Experienced and smart enough to read a situation that will work for him or not. What a dope that guy is but they needed someone to beat on a little. Couldn't have everyone singing our praises. Out of interest, I know you’ve followed Rodgers for a while. Do you think he would leave us for another club anytime soon? I personally don’t think he would but I would be interested to hear your opinion on this.

The mixed race guy is actually the Arsenal fan and even he says Rodgers wouldn't go to them as it stands. Anyway let people think what they want. I agree with the Geordie and with the video as a whole that there is something special about our club. I am not just saying this as a fan, but because it's true. You can feel it at the games, you feel it when you meet other fans, I dare say I feel it even when posting on these forums! I feel like this last 5 years (and more) we have all been through so many things together that it's united us all together. The owners, the fans, the city! You can go to any game and talk to anyone and it's extremely rare to find someone who isn't positive at the moment. This includes opposition fans, as many Palace supporters were very complimentary about us on the train home tonight. The best thing is the way it's been done. We aren't a money club, but through a shared bond we are writing our own story. Players like Kasper, Vardy, Morgan, Albrighton as well as Pearson started it and now I think with this new breed of potential superstars we have learning from players like this, plus the superb coaching of Rodgers is a recipe for something incredible. Ndidi, Tielemans, Maddison, Soyuncu, Barnes, Hamza, Chilwell, these are all very likable guys and many of them seem to care. Youri Tielemans was bouncing like he was on a space hopper running over to the fans at the end of the game! In case you can't tell, I am quite optimistic about Leicester City at the moment! To be honest I even think the Chelsea fan, while it's not what we want to hear, isn't talking total crap either. I've watched a few of this lot this season and while some of it's crap there's some quite interesting stuff on there, from all of them.

No. For me this is his collaborative work of art because the whole of the club is involved in creating it. A dream being created in his minds eye. And now we're seeing the beginnings of its shape and style coming together piece by piece. Always room for improvement. How many get to have the freedom and responsibility of putting together a team of this potential quality. Where else does this situation even exist without the overwhelming support from Top down through the rest of the club. Nowhere in my opinion. Why would he leave? It's all here. Enjoy watching it build. That's how I got hooked.
FireFox Posted 4 November 2019 Posted 4 November 2019 I think the Chelsea fan was obviously a bit of an idiot, but also he just didn't communicate well enough. Being the Arsenal manager is the "bigger job", and arguably someone with "ambition" should want that "opportunity" for their "career". However, the Chelsea fan fails to consider what sorts of ambitious Rodgers will have. From a purely footballing perspective, Leicester will provide a greater opportunity for Rodgers to be actually successful on the field (in winning trophies, meeting/surpassing fan/owner expectations with the resources provided), (hopefully) for the next few years. Does Rodgers want to achieve success on the field and written into history and Wikipedia articles, or does he want to achieve success for his career (as perceived by the modern media) and written into contracts and paychecks?
reynard Posted 4 November 2019 Posted 4 November 2019 It will all be about whether we can hang on to these players as well as Rodgers. I suspect that January will deeply test the resolve of the club. You can expect some serious level bids to come in for our players. There are several massive clubs out there who will be looking and I'm not just talking about England. If we continue as we are then next summer will be even worse.
stripeyfox Posted 4 November 2019 Posted 4 November 2019 By any traditional measure, Arsenal are a "bigger" club and I don't think anyone would disagree with that. Would Rodgers want to go? Truth is we don't know. I can't see BR being in any hurry to leave right now. If he does have ambitions to move to one of the "bigger" clubs then other opportunities will come I'm sure. Could Arsenal prise him away? It definitely feels right now like there are loads more reasons for him to stay than to leave. Hanging on to the group we have is going to be a constant struggle as our prized assets get touted by other clubs - Chilwell, Ndidi, Tielemens, Ricardo, Maddison etc are all performing to a better standard than many of their counterparts at "big" clubs.
Koke Posted 4 November 2019 Posted 4 November 2019 I'll just copy and paste what I put in the other thread I get Rory's argument. If Arsenal or Msn Utd or Chelsea jobs became available in the summer of 2020 and they wanted Rodgers then Rodgers would most likely leave. Leicester are currently better than Arsenal and United in just about every way but those 2 clubs are so much bigger than us. Arsenal may hire Allegri and go from strength to strength and that job wont be available anymore so it would be foolish not to take the job when it does become available. Rory is a Chelsea fan and he does come across as a hig club elitist but I think he is correct with his argument. Its like when Holloway joined us from Plymouth. They sat 5th or 6th and we were near the bottom with a shambolic squad. But clearly we were a much bigger club than Plymouth. Big clubs are still more attractive than smaller ones regardless how bad they currently are
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 November 2019 Posted 4 November 2019 So glad that the fella brought up about Ndidi and Choudry. The point that we don’t concede many goals because we defend as a team. Also says that things would be different if we had injuries to Wilf and Vardy. I agree completely. Finally, well happy the Geordie is so positive about Pérez. Been saying this for weeks - he’s a good player.
HighPeakFox Posted 4 November 2019 Posted 4 November 2019 This sort of confirms what I thought, that we have a team that sort of plays 3 cbs with wbs, sort of plays a 4 with a destroyer in front, sort of plays 433. Sort of...

Dahnsouff Posted 4 November 2019 Posted 4 November 2019 Such a great vid, thanks. @StriderHiryu Encapsulates so many positive and negative viewpoints, and shows clearly the big club/there is no disturbing the status quo, type of view. Very interesting

I also feel people like the long haired git only think that teams in the Big markets of London, Manchester and Liverpool are worthy of being a big club with the best players and coaches. 10 years ago before Man City was bought by the richest family in the world was a lower league team. Give any team the money that has been invested like MC and they would be a world beater. In our case our owner is not that wealthy but wealthy enough to have the team and staff we have. In 3 years if we are still performing as we are and maybe with a larger a stadium people will recognise that Leicester is the big team conversation.

I'd say if we are in the Top 4 if not top 3 by January then it would take serious money to even consider selling. Besides players might want to stay on and dream big like in January 2016.... We've only had the Mahrez saga in recent January windows go against us. If we are to sell it's gonna be in the summer but we'll keep the core in place as long as we're in Europe. No way will we lose everyone in quick succession a la Southampton.
ARM1968 Posted 4 November 2019 Posted 4 November 2019 Good video. Some nice comments from most. Arsenal are a vastly bigger club than us but currently they are verging on the Man Utd. Rodgers might be tempted, but I actually don’t think he is BIG enough for them. Well, hopefully.
