Yes that was a lovely gesture, and Lewis seemed genuinely moved by it too. I noticed they whisked it away before it got soaked in champagne, good thinking!

He'll stop at the end of next season IMO, 100 wins and matching Schumacher at the least will be enough. He has enough other interests to keep him entertained

No idea where he is on most points, though that's not really a fair fight now they give 25 points instead of 10.

I thought this earlier, so I googled adjusted points record. At the end of last season, after points were adjusted to match the current points system he was 2nd behind Schumacher by 141 points. So he now clear in first.

And he's got the pole record, had it a while. He's on 97 to Schumacher 68.

It doesn't help that Honda pulled the plug earlier this season leaving just Renault and Ferrari to compete with Mercedes. 

At this rate, I don't think any competitors will catch up with Mercedes or give them a good run before Hamilton retires.
