Why have we not registered more of our available players in the EL squad?
We registered as many players as we could register. Decisions had to be Made. In the Europa League teams can name up to 25 players in their squad. Teams can name a maximum of 17 non-home grown players. At least a further four players must be association-trained - this is the same definition as the Premier League's home-grown rule. The last four players must be club-trained - i.e. spent 3+ years in Leicester's academy between the ages of 16 and 21. If the club do not have enough players who fit this bill, they cannot name a full 25 man squad.

Why would you knowingly send out on loan Benkovic when you know we are short on numbers for Centre back?
Because if he didn’t go out on loan now he couldn’t at all until January. We had to look at the bigger picture, Benkovic needs a full season under his belt to develop and get over his injury problems.
Going out on loan is better for him as a player and thus is as a club than him playing the odd game here and there and then breaking down without regular football.

Why do we have players that are not looking fit (Tielemans Under Morgan etc)?

Than is your opinion, some players naturally carry a bit more weight, no one was complaining after Tielemans played against Man City, he’s been one of our better players this season.

Why sideline one of out attacking options (Gray) when we are short of attacking options? (If Slimani can come back into the fold, Gray deserves to be treated better, and Benkovic imo)

Gray is not in the best 18 at the moment he is fourth choice in his position. Barnes and Perez are currently the starting players with Under once he is fully match fit possibly selected ahead of Perez.

Albrighton’s versatility makes him a better choice on the bench than Gray. Gray hasn’t been excluded, we are just fully fit and have made  additions in his role.

Any more questions?

EL sqaud: But we only named 24 players (inc three goalies!) And we then sent KDH out on loan 🤷🏻‍♂️

Benkovic: he didn’t need to go out on loan to get game time. We have sooo many games this season. We need as big a squad as possible

Unfit players: They are unfit. I did ‘complain’ about this following the Man City game

Sqaud and Bench: just feel Gray would have been a good option last night, and he’s a best option we have to swap like for like when Barnes isn’t firing.

Gray is behind Perez, Barnes, Albrighton and Under. Unfortunately he offers a lot less that all 4 of them. I would be surprised to see him in a Leicester team again.

Morgan being way past his best is not short term. Neither is a three month lay off for Soyuncu and Amartey. Sending Benkovic out on loan in a condensed season of 50+ games is madness

We have adequate cover for Ndidi in Mendy and Choudhury

Whether you like Morgan or not he's been ahead of Benkovic in the managers pecking order. Unless there has been another update, Amartey was said to be out for a few weeks. So that's 4 centre backs ahead of him.

We had Under on the bench and the manager didn't use him, so he'd have just sat on his arse like Under.

We had to register 4 players that are homegrown through the club. We only had 3 (Barnes, Choudhury and KDH) so had to leave a spare slot as a result. KDH has left but that spot couldn't have been filled by anyone else anyway, so we now have 2 spare slots.

I do like Wes. Love him, it’s just he’s not as good an option as Benkovic, and Brendan is wrong about this one.

You have to name at least 4 over 21 academy trained players in the 25 man squad, therefore we only had room for 21 other players and 3 are goalkeepers. We had Choudhury, Barnes and KDH as the over 21 academy players, we were maxed out.

Wouldn't know, other than Scotland and Under 21's I've never seen the bloke play. He's also made of glass.

I think not bringing Under on was the right choice last night, as he’s not as good as tracking back as Perez. Perez did a good job last night.

Ok thanks, the penny has dropped

I feel Perez would be better suited playing as a second striker rather than out wide.

I think Ünder and Albrighton should be battling for the right hand side slot (now using MA and Slimani as subs as a plan b) and Barnes and Gray should be fighting each other for the left hand side slot.

Only just found out that Soyuuncu is out for 3 months, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Choudhury is clearly not adequate cover for Mendy let alone Ndidi.

No, as soon as we knew Soyuncu was injured, we should pressed the pause button on any suggestion of a loan, and have held onto Benkovic. Morgan’s a great man to have around, but should not be in match day squads (barring maybe league cup). We should have CB options of Evans, Soyuncu, Fofana and Benkovic to cope with the massive number of games this season, in a condensed period of time. Morgan starting in games is too scary a thought. Amartey is even more fragile than Benkovic it seems!!

You don’t really account for injuries. How’s Under ever gonna get fitness if he doesn’t play? Benkovic clearly doesn’t figure in the plans. People need to get over that. Truth is we have no idea what’s going on with Gray.

We do. He has been offered a new contract, but it was made clear to him, he is seen as an impact sub only and Brendan doesn't see him as a starter. Gray has therefore refused to sign the new contract and I guess will be leaving on Jan for a small fee or next summer for nothing.

Starting to feel that we can’t play Tielemans without Ndidi, Youri is massively talented but his lack of athleticism leaves us exposed. We lack balance in midfield when everybody’s fit but especially with Wilf out because he’s such an incredible ball winner.

Next summer I’d like us to shift both Choudhury and Mendy to bring one or two more physically and technically capable players. Sangare who went to PSV from Toulouse would have been perfect

Just out of interest and bearing in mind all positions need to be covered on the bench, who would you have left out to accomodate Gray on the bench?

How has Benkovic turned into such an awful player seemingly overnight?  Celtic fans were raving about him, saying he was better than Van Dijk was when he played at Parkhead.  The regression is staggering.

Benchovic has gone backwards since Celtic, which was a while back, or he would have been in front of Morgan.

The brains trust seem to think he needs regular starts to get himself back in the groove, which is disappointing but not unknown in football. I remember when we bought him there were injury question marks, and events seem to have confirmed that, although there could be other stuff in the background we don't know about.

It is a damn shame, because he clearly has quality.

Albrighton

The thing is in an injury situation Albrighton could play 4/5 different positions so gives you flexibility off the bench - Gray can play 1 and we already had cover in that role.
When picking the bench you really have to try and cover every possible scenario. Albrighton allows for this Gray doesn’t.

Question no. 5: Why on earth don’t we (the premier league) adopt the Italian serie A system, of having 11 substitutes named on the bench for match days?

using this system would keep all teams squad members so much happier. It must be so demoralising for player which currently miss out on the current 18, yet work hard in training. This way, seems so much more logical, especially with the current condensed season 🤷🏻‍♂️
