Price it's usually price. Every property has a price.

Yep, and high interest rates. It looks like they will be going up as well so I can't see the property market improving any time soon.

Im starting to see lots of people being made redundant in the housing sector. It could be a difficult year economically.

What's interesting is that we had more interest/viewings this time last year when our house was priced nearly 20% higher than it is now.

We were advised to be aggressive on price and reduce significantly (which we have) but still no joy.

There's dozens of properties in our village which have been on the market for over a year and all have been reduced.

Hardly anything is selling down here and the local market seems to have ground to a halt.

Rural Bucks in a village between Buckingham and Aylesbury.

Our current agent contract expires in three weeks so we’ll probably take it off the market then and wait until next spring/summer to try again.

Ah yes, I know of it.

Clearly there's not enough London types looking for second or third rural homes in the area, given they're likely the only ones who could realistically afford most of them...

Ours has been on and off the market for the last 12 months with 3 different agents, we're desperate to move to a newer/bigger house.

Despite lowering the price and having numerous viewings, we've had no solid offers.

There's 56 properties for sale in our small village but nothings shifting for whatever reasons...

It'll be the shit taps.

I'd not buy a house with shit taps.

Might be the best £40 you've ever spent.

Been gone from England since 2016 (visited back sporadically but not more than a weekend or 4 days max). The poverty and absolute dire straits the country is in is shocking. Stagnating wages, out of control rent increases, litter everywhere, houses people live that aren't fit for purpose, the long waits for GP appointments and emergency hospital visits. A lot of these issues existed when I lived in England but it has been multiplied by 10 it seems.

There isn't a short term solution for this. Multiple city councils (Birmingham, Nottingham etc) have gone bankrupt this year. New Labour government that I doubt can fix this large scale problems. Things are looking very bleak sadly.

Sad but true. My family and friends that live abroad all say the same thing. It’s bad everywhere currently but the UK seems far worse in comparison.

The cons are things are pretty expensive here and the income tax is high (38% + 8% labour market contribution). Sales tax is 25% and don't get me started on the taxes on our vehicles.  For all that, we have a very solid social safety net, higher education is free, very good efficient health service and housing is affordable. Less political turmoil than the UK.

The population is 5.5m people compared to the 70m in UK so that has to be remembered.

The litter in big towns and cities is awful. Obviously the shit state of public services is more pressing but the rubbish on the streets is something we have to see and experience every day and it's demoralising. Got so bad the last few years.

And the littering is so unnecessary. Some people would trash paradise in no time

Yeah exactly. It's symbolic of a country in economic decline but it's not directly caused by it. It costs nothing to throw your rubbish in the bin not on the street. It's a cultural thing.

It's nothing new - for me, it's as mind boggling as the people who used to smash up glass bus shelters, I could never see the gain. I guess people externalise their own unhappiness in different ways.

Its almost like high taxes and a government plan to assist people rather than corporations makes for a better society.... go figure

I thought there was a recession on?

People been setting off fireworks all around my house without much downtime for a few hours.

My next door neighbour's dog, poor thing, has been barking its head off after every bang and crash for hours without pause, too.

The last 3 hours of my life can be summarised by:

BANG

WOOF

x a million

Apps are awful.

I went to pay in the shop recently and couldn't, there was no phone signal. I mumbled a lot.

Android has been shit, the iPhone comes today so I wiped the Samsung. Went to pay for fuel with a card - it wanted inserting and the PIN entered. How the flip do I do that? I've been paying with a phone since forever, I don't know my PIN. I don't know any of my PINs now - and if I needed them I looked them up on the respective app. But the phone has been wiped. All my cards wanted inserting.

Fortunately a real life person took pity on me paid for my petrol.

I'm tempted to go back to using cards and not bothering with Applepay.
