some of the combination play down our left side between Thomas, McFarlane, Braybrooke and Alves was sensation tonight.

 

Thomas played some great balls through the lines to Braybrooke and on the whole defended very well again.

I think you could argue Pepple is the most powerful forward he could face this season

Who knew all along that there was a decent CB kicking and screaming to come out of Thomas. 
 

I’ve given him plenty of shit but he’s played very well the last couple of games and that back four now has balance. Him and McFarlane work well on that left side

Thomas’ praise is based on him being so poor at LB, for so long.

 

All that I’ve taken away from the first batch of League One games, the finishing is even worse than I remembered.

Exactly this - looking 10% less of a car crash doesn’t make you a decent cb and as previously said he definitely isn’t the answer however as 4th choice cb and second choice LB there is just about a case for him to be around the squad

Really does make a difference having a CB who is left footed. With both Thomas and Page in that whole side of the pitch just seemed to open up more for us. And he defended well bar a couple of times he got turned, but fair enough on that.
