Just watching Palace-Forest & notice that long throw ins are causing defensive chaos.

Possibly the only asset the useless Thomas has is a long throw, even though it rarely went anywhere near our own players, yet we've never used it this season. Obviously doesn't sit with the manager's philophasy

I think there are enough pages in this thread and enough posts to conclude that a consensus is forming around his ability. He hasn’t got any.

We also seem to be largely in agreement on his importance to the club. He doesn’t have any.

So then, the truly mystifying aspect is why he keeps being picked to play.

Because we’ve somehow found ourselves in a position that despite Thomas’s catastrophic flaws as a left back, there’s a reasonable argument to be had that he’s STILL the better option than our only other left back in Macfarlane. This has to be pinned on McCarron tbh. He’s responsible for signing players and he’s somehow found an alternative to Thomas that is possibly a downgrade on our calamitous fullback still visibly out of his depth at League 1 level.

Purely just on overall performances or attitude as well?

Doesn't seem to strike as the type of character who would be controversial behind the scenes.

Largely performance related but just can’t warm to him. Don’t know him personally!

Look at him on the 2nd goal from this angle lol

I don't think even he would make any defence for this so god knows why some on here do it.

You know what to expect but somehow it’s still embarrassing watching them play.

He just gives up after the first touch.  For the first goal at least Aluko has the excuse of being turned by some sort of skill.

He looks unfit there if anything. There are plenty of players in non-league who wouldn't do that, and non-league players don't have anything like the luxuries in conditioning and whatnot he'd have.

He's jacked it in. He will not play in the EFL post 30.

Any serious manager would immediately eject him from the team, says it all that Russell is playing him

You defended him on here when people were saying he was league one/two standard. Telling people not to be so silly.

Never seen such feeble defending from any professional footballer in my life.

Apart from Thomas previously.

I’ll never forgive him for losing a battle of strength against the 5ft Sakamoto last season against Cov.

I don't think this guy has been coached well over the last few years.

He hasn't I agree — but he hasn't helped himself by getting arseholed every weekend. He doesn't behave like a disciplined athlete.

I genuinely don’t think he would be good enough for Non league. Elliot Putman is Harborough Towns left back and there is no way Thomas would be good enough to take his place.

Good post. Putman is very good !

Or doing any sort of improvement himself.

He could’ve spent the last 4 years trying to kick the ball forwards with his right foot. 15 minutes after the training session kicking the ball against a wall.

he could’ve gained muscle, learnt how to read the game, his opponents and work on the basics.

Think iv posted this at least as many times over the years as Martin says we’ve had shots on goal this season

This is the reason I have no sympathy for him. He works in an environment where an extra 5% fitness is the difference between a below average player to an above average player.

Getting hammered every weekend versus a great diet, good sleep, no toxins over a 3-6 month period would transform his athleticism, and massively improve his game.

Being the big time Charlie to his mates is the life he is choosing over being a much better footballer. It’s really pathetic.

February 2024 during his disastrous loan move to Middlesbrough. A month after Sheffield United had terminated his season long loan early because he wasn’t good enough.

Spends half the time in his local pub pissed on fruit shoots 😂

More than half the time sadly.

Out last night and this afternoon, obviously he’s free to do as he pleases in his own time but seeing him and his “clingers on” regularly he really has no desire to improve or progress as a footballer.

I honestly think he will be one that just retires early and nobody really notices until he’s a pub quiz answer 20 years later
