5 goal involvements from LB/Wingback is genuinely good regardless of the opinion of him

I have never really had a problem with him going forward, he is defensively so poor and seemingly can do no wrong. I try to be balanced but I really struggle that he is the only player to play every minute this year, and they take off players from their natural position to keep Luke Thomas on. It makes no sense to me, he is someone I see as one of our poorer performers but somehow avoids accoubtability for this from Martin.

Its obciously only an opinion but I really struggle to get behind LT because I have spent too long hoping he will turn a corner only for it to happen again.

My current dislike however is more based on Martins undue obssession with him rather than any very poor performances if I am honest with myself.

Think some of you occasionally need to remind yourself that Luke Thomas being not a very good footballer at our level doesn't stop him being a person.

The levels of abuse are definitely starting to go beyond just dissatisfaction at football.

One or two of you could do with reigning it in a bit.

I read this first and then scrolled back to see what you were referring to. Maybe they’ve been deleted as I didn’t find anything particularly vitriolic?

The comments about his lifestyle and the club’s lack of intervention are discomforting but not malicious.

I'm not referring only to this thread.

Look at every pre-match thread, match thread, shit any thread whether it's about Thomas or not his name comes up somewhere.

If you're going to deny there's a substantial amount of personal abuse thrown around at Luke Thomas here and that it's been getting gradually, uncomfortably, worse for a while now then you either don't read this forum or you're openly in denial.

I think I do read the forum, and I’m just not invested enough in LT to be in denial.

Maybe I just disagree

Believe me I don’t think he’s good enough and needs dropping.

Im just saying that’s not a bad output for his position

In October though still. It’s good as an attacking output.

On field wise, separate that from the defensive side which is bad but that doesn’t detract from 5 contributions from LB by October for any LB being decent.

The other off field side is that year, he’s not exactly paid at the level of a League 1 left back which is the issue as to why we are where we are now.

I absolutely want him to be moved on by the way and that is not defending his time here. It’s just balanced to acknowledge the positive. Better than not contributing anything at the other end….

Interesting thought- for a left back, or left wing back - in League One, what would be an impressive goal involvement tally by the end of the season?

No goal involvment tally is impressive, because it literally is League 1.

If Luke Thomas doesn't look levels above everyone else, thats his problem.

Thomas always seems to do well in the match ratings, I wouldn't be surprised if he is the highest rated LB in the league when we all know he's probably the worst. Mad that.

I’m really not getting the digs at Alves. He’s been really good. Considering if you look back at his thread & the loan thread he’s been continuously mocked and written off.

He can’t help if others aren’t finishing his chances created :dunno:

May as well send McFarlane back given the comments last night. Thomas will play 50+ games for us this season which is a true reflection of the total collapse of standards at the football club.

Actually if we get deep into the Subway Sandwiches shield it could be close to 60 appearances. It makes me sick.

My comments not a dig at Alves but just using him as a comparison to the reply of his (Thomas) out put in league 1 being mocked.

@BrilliantFox Interestingly the highest assist for Lge 1 last season was only 13 and achieved by a player who plays as a winger / RM not a LB/LWB who is being asked to do more, if Thomas was to carry on as he is he would pass that.

@Rubbersoul @It'sblueupnorth

Right, so when its all said and done, what does Luke Thomas being the highest assister in League 1 do for us?

Rather embarrassing we're able to say a Leicester City player has stats in this league, LET ALONE applaud it.

I don't suddenly drop my standards as a fan because we're being run into the mud.

Lauding achievements outside the 1st division is not befitting of a LCFC fan.

He and Okoli perfectly encapsulate the downfall of Leicester City.

He's got worse as the club has fallen off a cliff. Some players rise above it, move on and have high aspirations.

Not Thomas.

I literally just said his current output for a LB is good. That is it.

I think he’s dreadful.

Im really not sure why you’ve lost your head over this. We all know he’s shite.

Noticed  last night he can never take the ball on the half turn. He receives it like you’d expect the tin man in wizard of oz to do it. No fluency in movement

also thought I spotted him react to some comments from the crowd before his assist. Similar spot to where hamza reacted last season. Anyone else notice this?

Wondered how long it would be before the Alves human centipede came to life - you didn't dissapoint. Probably sat their shaking in frustration.

Its not so much aimed at Alves, its more so aimed at the likes of you who absolutely fawn over him and jump on anyone that has a different opinion.

Whats he ACTUALLY done thats put him levels above everyone else?

Or is it simply the fact hes a young likeable Leicester lad? Genuinely just curious.

You seem genuinely irritated that people actually like him and that he’s doing well.

Absolutely not.

Irritated that he seems to escape any form of criticism from overall bad team performances.

His numbers arent good, his decision making at times is poor.

Shocking miss at Barnsley completely brushed over yet another player will be hammered.

The thing I find more weird than anything is presumably grown men like yourselves becoming so protective over another man.

He's 21, not 12. Get a grip.
