England manage to outscore Shubman Gill’s first innings score by 2 in the whole of their second innings.

Me being given out caught behind away at Shepshed Messengers a few years back was way worse.

Only because we don’t know what you were caught out doing  lol

I'll forgive you though, I make that about 2 wins in about ten test matches for India so you must be incredibly excited.....😅

5 wins from the last 6 games vs England though.. 😟

The last India-England series ended up 4-1 to India.  This one could easily have the same result.

Stokes's injuries look to have caught up with him, along with his weaknesses against spin. Woakes, too, seems shot after a truly dismal showing on his home ground.

It's asking a lot to rely on Jofra Archer - who has played just ONE first -class game in the last FOUR YEARS - to front our bowling attack for the rest of the series.

Never mind, though, only a month or so before The Hundred, so trebles all round at Lord's again.. 🙄

A bit defeatist for me, add the previous two games to that and England have won 3 out of the last 7. It's pretty even i think - Atkinson coming back is massive.....everyone's talking about Bumrah's strike rate but Gus has a better one....😬 (35 vs 42).

Should be an intriguing rest of the series.

Doesn't look like we're going to change Bashir but on every metric hes dreadful which is a shame.

Bashir is like me when I was 14 and made up the numbers for my dad's Sunday team. Patronising claps from the teammates whenever I did something decent.

Except I wasn't in there to bowl the opposition out.

Would be a risk to play Archer and Atkinson. Woakes has a great record at Lords but surely needs the rest. if Woakes and Carse don't play you need to think how long the tail will be (granted it wasn't much use in the first innings in this test)

Wouldn't be surprised if Jamie Overton plays. May as well play 5 seamers and use Root has your spinner.

Stokes and Baz should be on the phone to Liam Dawson this morning. Play him at 8 then for the rest of this series you've got a combination of Woakes, Atkinson, Carse, Cook, Archer, Tongue and Wood at 9, 10 and 11. Bashir is offering absolutely nothing.

Definitely unpopular

I guess I feel the same way about it as I did Hayden taking the record off Lara against the same opposition as here, and I was glad when Lara got it back.

I know you can only rack up a score against what's in front of you, though.

I'm viewing through green tinted Leicestershire spectacles here

Jadeja, one of the finest spinners in the world, has figures of 2-282 in the series, and he's bowled on 5th day wickets. I think whichever slow bowler we play, they're going to get smashed.

Mulder declares, mad

Wicket first ball.

Maybe did it out of respect for Lara or a real team player ?

Don't disagree, but if we are going to play a spinner at least have one who can contribute with the bat.

Has to be one of those, they certainly have more than enough time on their hands here.

He could’ve gone for Lara’s 501 and probably not compromised his teams chance of winning

I think Ultimately, he's the captain of the current test cricket world champions, playing the lowest of the low in terms of test cricket, and he realised that Lara's achievement came in very different circumstances.

Cricket is still a very sportsmanship heavy sport, there's no way he declared due to time, they'll have it wrapped up midway through day 3.

The declaration must have been for non cricketing reasons. I can't see Mulder passing up the chance to beat Lara's record, because he was desperate to put Zimbabwe in.

He has said the record should remain with a legend of the game. His coach also put the idea into his head. It's on BBC sport.

Records are there to be broken. He should have gone for it. Someone else will end up doing it instead

People saying it's only Zimbabwe but then surely everyone should be breaking records against them! Got to give some credit it's no mean feat at all
