I'd still make Sri Lanka favourites. Letting them get away here now, lost a bit of control. If Bess and Leach can get something out of this pitch then the Sri lankan bowlers will cause havoc.

Need a plan to combat Embuldeniya’s left arm spin - the others haven’t shown much

I bet we wish we had an extra batsmen in the team now, one more wicket and they're into the bowlers. I like Curran and he can bat a bit, but I'd rather another batter in the middle order.

Exactly the kind of innings we need Sibley to deliver. And I know I've slagged him off in recent months but I've got to say fair play to Buttler too, his keeping's getting better and he's often doing the job with the bat too.

 

Still glad Foakes is getting a go in India though. :ph34r:

Winner-takes-all series against India for the World Test Championship final, then - drawn series good enough for neither side, depending on if the Aus-SA series goes ahead and what the result is there if it does.

If India can do it with a fair few leading lights missing or misfiring, then I think we can too.

 

Going to India itself is going to be the more difficult one - and arguably, right now, more important.

The Aussie bowling attack is terrific. I really think we will end up relying on Root & Stokes to dig us out of a hole too often, over a 5 match series that’s tough. 
No way will Paine be in charge, Smith will probably worm his way back in, or possibly Labuschagne.

Australia will be heavy favourites l imagine, can’t see us winning more than 1 test.

Love seeing Pakistan back playing Tests in their own country.

 

Side note, but do any of you who actually subscribe to Sky Cricket feel short changed by how few internationals are actually on there? They seem to have the rights to so few series.

 

This Pakistan v Saffers game is today, granted, but they've also whacked it on Sky Sports Mix so even also rans like me can watch it without paying extra. :D

They haven't got as much cricket as they used to. BT have taken the rights to the Australia and New Zealand home series recently which Sky usually had.

 

Sky had the South Africa v Sri Lanka series a few weeks ago.
