The merc are saying we agreed to pay his wages in full but Inter demanded a loan fee as well, that’s the reason it fell through.

What’s he on 300k a week ?

Don’t know if that would of been a good signing or not, it might of upset a few the players with what we would of been paying.

Either way whether we agreed to it or not I'm happy he didn't come here. He didn't seem to have the best attitude when he was at Spurs. Maddison and Praet do the job just fine.

I don't think it would effect squad harmony as it was clearly a short term signing where we had agreed to pay his wages and nothing else. No different than had we agreed to pay £3m loan fee and half his wages.

I don't agree. There must clearly be an intention for us to sign him longer term if we are willing to pay that much in wages. But imagine you're James Maddison, having your best season and being applauded by all pundits and then we replace him (even short term) with Eriksen or shift him out wide. We won't be paying thar kind of money for him to sit on the bench as a backup option.

Don't believe it. Based on current form he's not good enough. He priced himself into a prison. Hope he enjoys the rest of his career.

No. I think we only wanted him because of Praet's injury. I don't believe we were happy paying that much in wages, but if we were, it would only be because it's a short term thing. That's double what we pay anyone who's here permanently.

It would of been more of a FM type Jan signing than a real life LCFC signing. Although I do believe we did have a go. I think he would of been fantastic on the right hand side and an improvement on Madders on set pieces. I think Madders could of done from watching him in training and on the pitch.

There's no way we're breaking our wage structure even on a short term basis as if I was someone like Vardy or Kasper, who have brought so much success to the club, to then have someone come in and earn double even on a short term basis would be so insulting, as it would imply we can afford it but choose not to reward players accordingly. Anyway it's not going to happen ever imo.

Not many prisons pay £300k a week, I reckon he'll survive.

As previously discussed, would a loan fee but paying him only 30% of his wage be acceptable? He's getting his 300k regardless, so it doesn't really matter.

Say we got him on loan on deadline day, loan contracts are usually until the end of June, which would be 22 weeks, £6.6million to pay all his wages for that period

A deal to pay £3.3m loan fee and 50% of his wages doesn't look as bad in the first instance as compared to paying £300k a week

Yeah. None of us know whether it would have been a good deal, but you can mix the figures up so we're not paying him ridiculous amounts every week, rather just giving Inter coin for his services. Potentially he could have gotten us Europe and that's how we could have angled it to our other players, but I'm not sure how it would have gone down with them.

It's the same difference though, the loaning club doesn't pay the player the wages, they pay the parent club do they not? So the make up of the loan fee and amount to contribute to the wages is really that important.

Should just chill out with like the other 300k club. Like Ozil, Bale and Sanchez did and just give up playing football. With that sort of wage demand, football isn't really a priority anymore.

We may have come to a wage agreement, that doesn’t translate to ‘we’ll pay all his wages’

Doubt we would have agreed all of his chunky salary. Sounds like we came to a agreement eg 30% of his wages but then they wanted however much on top for themselves.

What was wrong with his attitude? Of all things to aim at Eriksen, the attitude has to be the last thing. Even at Inter he's been thoroughly professional and chomped at the bit. He's been learning Italian and has recently conducted the first interview in Italian as well. Doesn't sound like someone who doesn't commit, even when the going gets tough.

So you've not followed recent developments of him actually playing and earning praise from Conte?
