Thought Perez had another game off the bench where he looked a lot better too. Gets plenty of stick on here so got to give credit where it’s due.

I think I’m in the minority where I prefer Perez over Maddison 😂 thinks it’s more a case Maddison is overrated and Perez is underrated that annoys me but he does a good job...

Another moment you can add to the ‘what a shame we weren’t there to see it’ list.

Can you imagine the noise when Kelechi bangs that in.

To be fair I think Nacho has benefitted from no fans. Less pressure and knowing Leicester fans would have booed him for touching the ball earlier in the season and he would have gone back into his shell

Nope. Stop thinking about second, we did this last year, United to beat Liverpool and put them out of the race for 4th.

Did we? I don't remember that. We should 100% have our sights on 2nd and take every point we can up to the ManU game. They also have twice as many games than us (two of them being Europa semi-finals). I want us to change the narrative from "beware of last years slide" (which people have made waaaaaaay too much of) and into we're hunting down second. A final, European football and finishing second in the PL DURING a pandemic would be insane for this club. It wont get the plaudits (rightly) compared to when we won the league but it's not far behind, as an achievement.

Even when Youri has a bad day, he bosses the midfield. What I love is how much he tracks back, a complete box to box midfielder.

and could argue it was a slightly off day for him too! Amazing player

I think we look better with him when we’re playing with this formation than with Maddison. He slows the game down a lot and is very greedy.

Yes, various people were cheering on United vs. Liverpool and United vs. Man City because they thought we could win the title, then these games eventually meant we missed out on CL.

I'm all for aiming for 2nd, but actively wanting Liverpool to win rather than just having them lose the game, and we'll be just about guaranteed CL football if we beat Southampton on Friday, seems silly.

Right.... now that we have that game out of the way, I have to start thinking about how I'm going to convince the Mrs to let me watch the Southampton game on my wedding night...

Haha good luck! I had the first half of the first game of the 2011/12 season on in the bridal suite on my wedding day...had to switch off at half time to get married...but was informed of our win as soon as we were out of the hall 😅

Bit harsh on Maddison as they marked him out the game. Think they saw how important he was against WBA and gave him no space at all and I imagine Perez would have struggled too. They also bossed Tielemans first half and credit to Palace in that they had a clear game plan and played with real aggression for a good 60 minutes or so, but our patience and quality came through.

Perez starts at Saints, for me. Madders needs a breather and can have more impact in last thirty than first sixty until he’s fully back up to speed.

I wouldn't complain about Perez starting on Friday but it will be a very different game. Palace's MO was largely defend, press and catch us on the break. They clogged up the center of the park in front of their goal area and pushed us out wide. I don't think Southampton will play like that. Much more building from the back, wanting to play football. It's a team when we're on it we can dominate midfield. Maddison would give us more options. But like I say if Perez plays (or at least starts) I wouldn't mind.

What a strange game of football.

At no stage did I think we would not win. Despite Ndidi and especially Tielemans being as poor as I have seen them. Madders obviously not 100%, Vards missing about 5 chances, LT at left back making a few errors and generally not being at our best, we still won comfortably. When we click, we could turnover anyone. Today just shows despite us not being at our best for a number of reasons, we still win and create plenty.

Real Madrid, were coming for you, were coming for yoooooou!!

You’ll have to go dressed in your lucky City shirt too, can’t take any chances.

If she's a keeper she'll understand ☺️

I've been watching this team for over fifty years, and Jonny Evans is the best centre half I've seen play for us.

Is to us like what chiellini is to juve and Ramos to Madrid. Plays for the shirt and plays with heart.

They weren't the games that meant we missed out on the CL. Drawing with Watford and Brighton, losing to Bournemouth 4-1, Everton 2-1 Spurs 3-0. That's why we missed out. I believe there are justifiable reasons why we lost our grip on the top four (unable to adjust with post lock-down, injuries etc) but blaming some variation in points from other team's matches just seems sad to me. It just seems like mental point juggling masturbation. Not saying I don't do it, but I would much rather have us looking UP the table, not down. There's more momentum in that with a clear goal.
