Where have I seen that female pundit before next to Carra?

Byker Grove?

You mean the pundit who literally seems like she’s reading autocue of cliches and stating the obvious ?

Not pretty but we get as many points for that as we did for the West Brom win. In many ways this is much more satisfying.

No standouts today (except perhaps Evans) but what a finish from Iheanacho! I’m sure most of us have seen thousands of games so most stuff we see doesn’t surprise us, especially in the highly-choreographed form the top-level game takes now - when something unusual like that comes along it’s all the more satisfying.

Agreeing with you again on another game. Didn’t think we were much better second half. Some idiotic play. Ignored the switch ball and both games came from it.

Disappointing that the analysis team can’t spot a consistent goal we concede - where the ball is lost in the middle from a throw in (set position) and all of sudden it’s man for man - might help if the wing back was a touch deeper on the cover.

We really do look to have the gonads that were missing during our run-in last season.

Others have said it already, but that's a game we'd lose time and time again last season.

Shoutout to Jonny Evans for that last-ditch block when Riedewald went clear. That could have buried us and arguably swung the momentum of the game in our favour.

Thomas needs to work on his final ball and Maddison was off it, but other than that I think we put in a proper shift today despite it ending up very scrappy. Thought Palace were good, we were just fortunate that they couldn't hit a cow's arse. But we rode it out and got our just rewards.

Seven points and we're in.

Winning ugly is what it's about sometimes especially now. Apart from two wonderfully beautiful goals, it wasn't pretty on the whole. But lots of grit, certainly after the break, and another big step. Super Kel and great that TC got his first home goal too.

I would have had Perez on earlier, Madders is still a work in progress at the mo.

I.e. from the start. Perez is infuriating at times but Maddison played with the strength and urgency of a plastic bag tonight.

Credit to palace, I think the footballing world expected them to roll over tonight but they really gave us a game.

They could have killed us off today, showed real energy and hunger.  I'm just glad they didnt

Reckon we'll switch it up for it, probably a similar line-up to what finished the game with Perez and Albrighton in.

Fofana still looked sharp after 90 today but guess we'll have to see if the Ramadan fasting is gonna take a toll on him or not.

We don't win the game tonight if it wasn't for this incredible challenge from Jonny Evans:

I’d assumed he was offside when I saw that live so it wasn’t till they replayed it that i realised what an important and impressive challenge it was!
