Or man city dumped Nacho on us? The above are poor examples that I can't even be bothered to explain, all for different reasons. Abraham is 24 in October and has played 167 league games and £40m is likely to be the most he'll ever go for. He's not an unknown quantity, he's a big club cast off and in all likelihood a depreciating asset who has peaked in value. If mid table is your aim then he's fine but if you want to challenge the likes of Chelsea you'll never do it by buying known quantities for top money that are not good enough for them.

And I don’t mean Hamza, Mendy, Fuchs, Morgan et al... Nacho, Pérez, Ricardo maybe?

Could it just be that his style of play isn’t suited to the new managers style of play? you’d be foolish to write off a young player that Rodgers is interested in. If there’s one thing he can do, it’s coach and help to bring the talent out of young players. Edited 3 May 2021 by MPH

They have been guilty of hoarding players and that to me is a big mistake. Too little game time, too many loans and you are never quite sure of what you have got. 1

This is not a format we will be adhering to for any long period and playing with two up front will not be the norm. Great to see him getting the recognition that he is receiving but unless Rodgers informed him that he is keeping two upfront, then the likelihood is that we go back to one upfront. 1

One up front will not be Vardy any more., Nacho can't do it, Perez can't do it so Barnes maybe?. At the moment we are one injury away from being in big trouble up front. Rodgers needs to reinforce his strike force pronto. 2

Look at Man City yesterday who started with no recognised front man with a front three of Foden, De Bruyne & Mahrez. Liverpool only have Firmino as a striker who plays as a 10. I'd prefer us to sign an attacking right sided player who could contribute goals like Barnes does but that will depend on what our stock formation will be next season and looking at the transfer links that will be 3 CB's.

If we buy Edouard the budget might stretch to Matt Pereira as well and he can play wide right when necessary as well as contribute in midfield and certainly set pieces and penalties. He is a versatile attacker.
happy85 Posted 21 May 2021 Author Posted 21 May 2021 (edited) Tammy Abraham has reached the point of no return at Chelsea, and is set to leave this summer. West Ham and Leicester are ready to give Abraham a new home but like all interested clubs, they are reluctant to pay the current £40m price-tag. (via @MailSport) Edited 21 May 2021 by happy85
Deeg67 Posted 21 May 2021 Posted 21 May 2021 Chelsea can stick their price tag up their drainspout. The guy can't even make their bench - it's naive to think that wouldn't impact his value. I personally think he's a genuine talent and will do well once liberated from Chelsea, but that number is ridiculous. What leverage do they have? They obviously don't want to get nothing and be stuck with an unhappy player for another season. 1

Yeah, but no ‘strikers’ is a deliberate and very modern tactic. Our ‘number 9s’ are a bloke in his mid 30s who’s barely scored since Christmas and a striker ten years younger who’s had a purple patch of scoring recently but who you wouldn’t want to bet on him continuing it. That doesn’t feel like much depth to me! I’d be looking for two proper front men in the summer...

I'm sure Chelsea would rather send him out on loan to someone like Brentford if they came up rather than sell him to us for less then the top end of what they hope to get. I'm not sold on him, but believe he has potential. How good in the air is he?, because we're lacking that.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 21 May 2021 Posted 21 May 2021 This has got WHU or Spurs all over it. Possibly even Southampton. 1
ARM1968 Posted 21 May 2021 Posted 21 May 2021 I think Tammy would suit us. Scores goals regularly. I think that might be important for a striker. 2

fazzyfox Posted 21 May 2021 Posted 21 May 2021 West Ham have said they are unlikely to spend that on one player but might they work it as a makeweight in a Rice deal to get him (the player, not a bag of the stuff)

Vlad the Fox Posted 21 May 2021 Posted 21 May 2021 I do wonder sometimes if we throw a few red herrings out there to throw people of the sent. Looking at our recruitment over the last few years there must be a few who keep an eye on who we’re after, maybe sometimes trying to scupper a deal and jump in themselves. This one kind of fits that in so much as he’s a player of the profile you could see us going for but ultimately he isn’t good enough for what we want. Maybe a bit like villa signing that lad we were supposedly after when we bought Kante in.
