There's no upside to missing out on top 4. But I wouldn't sign Abraham, not at 40m and not at 30m. I know he scored 15 goals in 19/20 but he needs a lot of chances. I remember him missing sitters under Lampard. Also, I think Rodgers like mobile strikers like Vardy and Kel. 1
lcfc sheff Posted 2 May 2021 Posted 2 May 2021 I think £40m isn’t even a bad price, but I do think it’s a smokescreen for Edouard.
Deeg67 Posted 2 May 2021 Posted 2 May 2021 I think Abraham would be outstanding for us, but this just doesn't seem like a Leicester sort of signing. I'll be very surprised if there's anything to it.

Stuntman_Mike Posted 2 May 2021 Posted 2 May 2021 He'd be a great option for us and knows the league, but definitely not keen if that reported price is correct.

I think he does fit the profile.
Popular Post Finnegan Posted 2 May 2021 Popular Post Posted 2 May 2021 (edited) Tammy Abraham is the dictionary definition of a mid table journeyman being boosted by a decent squad. Absolute fvcking bang average striker who had a purple patch. At most, he's as good as Kelechi who may be going through the same, at worst (if Kelechi manages to make this form consistent) he's notably worse. He's got Palace for 15m written all over him. Edouard is more skilful but hasn't played in the premiership. However anything 20 million or less he is definitely the best option.

His value really has nowhere to go but down. If he was at a mid table club people would think that was his level. I really hope we aren't the ones being mugged off and paying the "big club tax" that Chelsea are asking. You only have to see the level of clubs that are being linked with him to see that his level is mid table. Edited 2 May 2021 by Gerard
Tuna Posted 2 May 2021 Posted 2 May 2021 I don't particularly rate him to be honest. Overpriced, overhyped and overrated. We can get better for less money.
Foxxed Posted 3 May 2021 Posted 3 May 2021 + Height + Age + Scores goals in the prem - Played for & might support Chelsea - Cheaper but unproven elsewhere - Wages?
ozleicester Posted 3 May 2021 Posted 3 May 2021 (edited) well...id be happy with him The price is irrelevant... if youd want him for 25 then you think hes good enough. Edited 3 May 2021 by ozleicester
surrifox Posted 3 May 2021 Posted 3 May 2021 I’d rather we try to compete for players the likes of Chelsea want to sign rather than the ones they are trying to sack off for inflated money 2
Muzzy_Izzn’t Posted 3 May 2021 Posted 3 May 2021 £40m is a mad amount of money for Abraham and is no doubt applying a hefty ‘English’ / ‘top six’ tax.. But I don’t buy the whole ‘why would we want a Chelsea reject’ motif, especially when you consider other players Chelsea have deemed ‘not good enough’ for their first team - KDB, Lukaku, Salah to name a few.. I’m not saying Abraham is necessarily up there with those players by any stretch.. but think it’s a little silly to right him off just because Chelsea are looking to sell him 3
coolhandfox Posted 3 May 2021 Posted 3 May 2021 (edited) I think he has a lot going for him, height, power, pace, technical ability Premier League 89 apps, 26 goals and 8 assists I'd like to see what Rodgers could do with him at the right price. Edited 3 May 2021 by coolhandfox 3

Chelsea don't do bargains , they got 90 million for 28 y.o. Hazard.

We're never going to compete with Chelsea over a longer period by buying their player for huge money who have been deemed not good enough for them. We need to be buying players who we think have the potential to become elite or world class players. Abraham is 24 in October and is surplus, chances are he's a good PL player and will never be no more than that. 3

Lukaku left Chelsea at 20 having played 10 games for Chelsea. Salah left Chelsea at 22 having played 13 games for Chelsea. The above players were younger and Mourinho never really trusted young players and got rid of them. Abraham is 24 in October and played 58 games for Chelsea, they've seen enough to think they can do better. He's a mid table player for me, Leicester, West Ham, Everton, etc is about his level. We'll never compete with these teams by allowing them to dump their squad players on us for big money and who aren't quite good enough. We'll never beat Chelsea by thinking like Chelsea and trying to beat them at their own game with fewer tools.

Didn't work out too shabby, really..... Best player ever, Kieth Weller, The brilliant Chris Garland, Star midfielder Steve Kember, Club icon, Birchenall (via CPFC) and David Webb. One time we weren't even close to their level.
Mint23 Posted 3 May 2021 Posted 3 May 2021 He’s a half decent striker that could improve under t right coaching and the right style/formation but at £40m he’s a huge gamble that clubs our size can’t afford to get wrong. Edouard would also be a gamble but there’s talk he’d only be a £15m-£20m gamble which we could afford to get wrong. Also how much for Daka? He looks like he’s going to be a real talent and one who would get us goals and a huge profit in a few years time.

Or Atalanta dumped Castagne on us? Or man city dumped Nacho on us?
Nick Posted 3 May 2021 Posted 3 May 2021 I just don’t think we are in for Tammy. Toney or Edouard seems more plausible and attainable for sub 30 million a piece.
