Isn't Klopp happy to play on the 26th and 29th?

Yes which is why it makes even less sense to think it’s the TV companies. They’d be really happy to be able to have the next two rounds of games spread from this Wednesday through to next Tuesday and show them all with more of a spread, rather than still having a bunch of 3pms scheduled today and Saturday + a load at 2 on Sunday

Liverpool have never played on the 26th & 28th whilst Klopp has been manager.

he is making a wider point about player welfare - the fact that this season was the first time he had this schedule and he has been making the point for more than this season …..

the league cup semis are next Tuesday/wed. Looking through the 7 teams in the quarters, it was feasible to arrange more games to Monday to allow there not to be games today. However, not sure how far back they made the schedule and whether there was enough wriggle room. Remember today is a bank holiday so they would be able  to play more games today during ‘working hours’.

In mine and Klopp’s worlds they’d bin off the two legs for the League Cup semi - there’s no rationale for it.

Then you can have 4 games Weds, 4 Thurs, 2 Friday, 3 Saturday, 3 Sunday, 3 Monday and 1 next Tuesday to round it off.

Or just do more on Monday that is also a bank holiday.
Have them all on TV which the weekends games aren’t.

So why was nothing done about it before the season? If this is such a big issue why wouldn't the players and managers insist to their executives or the League that we cannot play on the 26th and 28th and it has to be the 29th when the fixtures were released or the matches scheduled for TV? If one of the broadcasters doesn't like it then tough.

I've not heard a player or manager come out and say this was specifically requested and declined (unless I've missed it). You can't just assume things, you have to make it happen.

Covid  surge has complicated the issue whereby each club has a group of players that are unavailable for 10 days (now reduced to seven)

coaches would have planned for more rotation that they’ve been able to do thus far in dec and missing training for those ten days makes injury even more likely …..

It's madness. Every other league takes a break, yet here we cram in games in December. Why not play two or Three midweek games in August, September or October and less games at Xmas. There's no need to play boxing day then 28th then NYD. At least one of those games should be axed it's ridiculous.

Controversial take I’m sure but I’d be in favour of allowing 5 subs, maybe a rule where 2 have to be academy products?

I'd be in favour of 5 but 2 of them have to be at half time and the remaining 3 subs to be made in no more than 2 stoppages. Last thing we want is the second half being stopped every two or three minutes whilst each side brings on a sub.

Seriously, are these managers so blinkered they can't see how it looks? Why would lesser clubs with lesser squads vote for a situation where an opponent can usually bring on an extra two excellent or decent quality players during a match?

And when we took our break half the clubs took squads off to do warm weather training elsewhere or promotional appearances in Asia. There was a player on 5Live the other day saying the actual break is something like 5 days whilst the rest of the time is a normal workload.

Personally I'd have rid of international football during the season and get everything like qualifiers done in a month long slot at the end of the season. We had 3 international breaks in the first half of the season, we could have had 3 or 4 games fitted in during that time. Instead we had England putting 10 past some half-baked nobodies.

He's being ridiculous with that. Would Liverpool vote for something that would exclusively benefit Burnley and put Liverpool at a disadvantage?

How much does a fellow fan need from me wired to their account to run over and break this ****’s legs tonight? I’ll pay anything

This is from the exact same school of thought that we had an “advantage” the year we won the league because we weren’t in European competition.

The disadvantage from having slightly tired players (which as I’ve said before is within Klopp’s gift to sort out) pales into insignificance when compared with the advantage of being able to buy the best players in the world. In the 5 years or so since they were last promoted Burnley haven’t had a single player Liverpool would consider signing and yet he expects them to vote in 5 subs so he can keep his players fresh?

The thing is, I don't actually dispute that it would help the players. I think, to be honest, we have a squad that, when fully fit, would benefit from five subs. But we wouldn't want Liverpool or Man City to be able to make 5 changes so why should we expect Burnley and Norwich to be different?

You need to have a vote and a majority. The league panders enough to the top clubs, you can't keep giving them more.

I know a certain former England International and Champions League winner they could have who would also be home grown for them...

I imagine they will probably go in for Digne at Everton

Don't like the bloke but we have seen how much this injury can ruin players in Ricardo, it is a shame as he is actually quite fun to watch in that Chelsea system bombing forward

He would be a great player to try and get from Watford

8 goals and 5 assists so far this season and can play anywhere across the front 3
