What would be the implications of someone refusing to travel on the bus to Wembley and insisting they are going to travel in their own car for safety reasons?

They've already said they'd invalidate any tickets that didn't travel on a bus that they'd been booked onto.

If they actually can or will is anyone's guess.

Have you got a link to a published statement?

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Supporters travelling from Leicester by coach will be checked onto official coaches on the matchday. Failure to travel by the approved means of transport may result in tickets being cancelled. Supporters must present their coach and match tickets, photo ID and proof of negative lateral flow test result (NHS SMS or email) in order to board an official coach. Supporters will be required to wear face coverings on the journey (subject to any individual exemptions) and socially distanced seating will be in place.

Here from the supporter information they released last Thursday, your guess as good as anyone's if they actually would do it, but it's a risk you'd take

Thanks.

I knew I'd seen it, but good to have it confirmed.

Thing is if you turn up at Wembley with your Match ticket, photo ID and negative test how would the stewards at Wembley know if you arrived by coach or not?

Not that i am encouraging people to not bother with the coach but i cant see how they would police it. The match ticket is a print at home thing so i cant see the problem

Why we got to wear a face mask if everyone is negative?

The issue is, as far as I see it, that Lateral Flow Tests only confirm (for 99%) of cases if you are -ive. They don't test whether or not you are a carrier and can transmit Covid.

Kind of the angle that I'm coming from. Although they'll check you off if you're not there and there could be retrospective action (e.g. ban for life; forced to watch Derby County for 3 years etc.)

Look... what's going on is an experiment. HMG wanted 3500 Guinea pigs to travel one bus to wembley... attend the match and take a bus home.  They can then see if more of the Guinea pigs get covid than a control group or evdnnof a group of cheksea fans who were not bussed.

So that's why they dont care about a few supporters not having a bus seat.

Clearly they dont want guinea pigs not taking the bus.  So after the last bus is gone they can cancel tickets if necessary.   They have to threaten this... but I have no idea if they are capable if doing it

If you are intending to bunk off then my advice would be to get into the stadium before 12.30 or 13.00

They could quite feasibly cancel the ticket, you can rock up there and it might not work. Really depends if they enforce it.

So you mean because the person didnt show up on the coach they will cancel the ticket on the system. So it wouldnt be recognised at the wembley entrance? Sounds like a too hi tech thing for our ticket office lol

Im going on the coach anyway so like i said im not trying to encourage people to go against the rules. Just interested to know peoples thought on it.

Lets face it its a load of nonsense lol

I'd be amazed if they'd cancel tickets, what happens if they accidently cancel a ticket that has travelled by coach. Would be a nightmare to resolve. They'll just hope people go by the bus they've been stung £45 for and can't swig on.

It's pretty simple, no different to cancelling a ticket you've lost really. I've done that before and it's a click of a button at our stadium, Wembley probably use a similar system. Could be a simple database share, or they have a portal that links to their system.

It's really whether they want to enforce it, my guess is they might not. But I wouldn't want to risk it.

Still a farce that (most) fans have to travel via Foxes Travel and foot a £45 (!!!) charge for the privilidge.

If the governement want to use us as genuiea pigs they should foot the bill.

I don't know why people think t's too high tech to cancel a ticket lol

Look at how much time and effort is going into the test event, they're going to be making sure as many do travel by coach as planned.

It's shite, but I don't think it's worth risking.

Even for away games it is pretty simple

Stoke away a few seasons ago my grandad lost his ticket, found Jim around the buses and told him we lost a ticket, gave him our name, within 2 minutes he told us the original had be cancelled and a new one had been printed and is waiting for us at the Stoke ticket office

I get your frustration but the early stages of getting fans back in to grounds has to go well so that we can get back properly for the 21/22 season. Hopefully they won't be needed, certainly for outdoor events, for too much longer.

And that's the risk people will take, it's simple to do. Your name will be on the coach list, if you don't turn up there's nothing to stop the bus Marshall ringing Jim or the ticket office and cancelling those who didn't turn up.

The club have already put out a somewhat contradictory statement on this
"Get the bus to validate your ticket" and "Don't get the bus your ticket may be cancelled"
The fact they don't know which it is suggests to me its just a smokescreen to get folks onboard.
