I'd really like to see all of our players sign off with a goal today (including three subs and a 96th minute Schmeichel header), and just to cap things off, a clean sheet for Kasper too.

14-0.  Lovely.

I can just imagine it now though.  Chelsea get a 1-0 victory and Liverpool are winning 3-0 as they enter the final minute, the final whistle goes at the KP and despite winning 14-0, the players have to nervously wait on the Liverpool result.  The fourth official comes to the touch line at Anfield and holds up the board which simply says "AS MUCH TIME AS IS NEEDED".  Liverpool and Crystal Palace then go into the longest ever period of stoppage time and the ref finally blows the final whistle on Tuesday afternoon just as Allison scores his second of the match whilst Roy is taking a well deserved nap, the ref blows for full time immediately and Liverpool secure an 11-0 victory.  Klopp hails "his boys" as the greatest team in the world, SkySports run a month of special programmes lavishing praise on the greatest story of all time how one of the biggest clubs in world football can finish in the top four despite having an injury list comparable to many other teams around them and plucky old bottling Leicester miss out on Champions League qualification on goal difference, prompting the media to go full strength on getting Brendan to go to Spurs.

Hadn’t considered this scenario ........

As we not only need a win, but goals also, perhaps we'd be better off dumping the slowly slowly tippy tappy first half that has beleaguered our performances for weeks now. If we miss out we miss out, but at least go down fighting for a big win and not trying to keep it tight to avoid losing.

Honestly, going out to try and make up that goal difference I feel is more likely to make us not win at all than make it up.

We need to try and keep our heads and make sure we get the three points

They need to win also, no longer the dead rubber we hoped it might be a few weeks back. Villa offer the olive branch for me, if they're up for it then we have a chance.

I'm not sure they do. West Ham will get the point they need for 6th.

A win takes them in to Europa Conference League. Do they really want that?

Have a horrible feeling we'll go out with a bit of a whimper. No urgency or pace in the side. Hope I'm wrong!!!

No they don’t

arsenal are the complication but they likely don’t want it either!

could arsenal play out a bore draw in front of their fans ?  Doubt they can

‘After the Lord Mayors show’ - it’s possible

They still deserve a rapturous post match send off after the season they’ve given us .....

My one hope for tomorrow is that either we win, or - if we don't end up doing enough to qualify - I hope it's because both Chelsea and Liverpool won.

If they drop points but we still fvck it up and finish fifth, that'll be pretty much the only scenario that infuriates me. I've made peace with the likelihood that we'll be fifth and it's OK.

Just don't let it be because we approach tomorrow with the wrong attitude and end up screwing ourselves.

Klopp has raised the issue of his injury problems. Not sure where, but you would think he'd have the grace and tact to stfu when City, with far fewer player resources, have suffered comparatively more significant injuries to key players.

Tuchel too has no sense of embarrassment when looking for excuses for why his club, with the resources available to it, don't measure up.

Given that both clubs were part of the failed coup intended to rip the heart out of English football, you'd think they'd exercise some diplomacy. But they don't and the media still rush to annotate and publicise the ever more meaningless opinions and statements of these football condottiere.

We feed off these big clubs emotionally - measuring ourselves by the relative success we achieve against them, yet it's a false estimation given the disparity in financial resources.

Of course I hope both Liverpool and Chelsea lose - embarrassingly badly - not just for City's position but frae football generally. I hope we bury Spurs too - for the same reasons.

I know all those lucky enough to have a ticket today will really get behind the team. Even if things aren’t going our way, stay positive, we’re at our best with a siege mentality.

I was lucky enough to be at the FA cup final and I’m convinced our fans sucked that ball into the top corner.

Unfortunately I won’t be listening or tuning in, as I had a heart attack on Wednesday morning! Not sure my heart can take it atm. I blame the stresses of the FA cup final 🤣🤣

I’ll check the results tonight after all the drama has unfolded. We can do it. Leicester are the masters of pulling off the impossible!!

Good luck everyone! COYBs!!!

Sorry to hear that!

All the best

Today is a cup final IMO, not so much that if we win we have secured top 4 but that we have done everything we can to try and achieve it and that only happens in my eyes if we win. I've been very supportive of the team in recent weeks as we have really toiled and when many were saying 68 was going to be the magic number I always thought it wouldn't be that easy and nor would us getting in to the 70 points region with the games we had left and the way the squad is dead on its feet.

Get the win today and prove that throughout the season we have just kept on keeping on. If them ESL wa nkers finish above us then so be it.

Come on you Blue Boys

We need to win first and foremost, not worry about catching up Liverpool's goal difference as that is a dangerous game to play. Brendan has first hand experience with Liverpool, ironically in the game known as Crystanbul of how that can blow up in your face.

For those of you lucky enough to go today, enjoy the day and make sure you do what you can to get the boys over the line.

Echo what cockstock says.

We were lucky enough to attend the Final and believe me we thoroughly made the most of it.

It was like all the fans had exploded Into life after a year and a half of pent lack of football.

Win, lose or draw make sure YOU do your bit to get the lads the result we want.

Last week wouldn't have happy without the fans= do your bit

First we must actually play well.

Second we must achieve a greater tempo first half.

If we do that we can win and win handsomely, we owe Spurs that at least.

Then it’s in the lap of the gods.

I'm pretty relaxed about this one.  Perhaps because it is out of our hands now and I don't expect any slip ups from Liverpool or Chelsea.

So, in all likelihood, we miss out again having spent the entire season in the top fhree or four.  Disappointment again and may result in us losing Tielemans and even Rodgers, however it feels very different to last year.  There is no evaporated 14 point cushion this time, no slow motion capitulation and you could argue that to be this close, still with a snowball's chance on the last day is remarkable really.

Remarkable as this team appears spent,to me after the Europa League and after a long FA Cup campaign and considering we have had the worst injury crisis I can remember,  We have gone into the final phase of the season without long term absentees Barnes and Justin, Evans injured, Maddison and Ricardo injured/out of form, Vardy has lost his Midas touch and the rest of the squad running on fumes as we've never really had the luxury of rotation.  In fact our whole front line - Barnes, Maddison, Vardy and Perez are injured or out of form, Perez never having been in form.

The turning point for me was Barnes' injury.  How we've missed his pace and penetration, but it has also necessitated this formation change.  A formation which is necessary due to lack of wingers but is definitely not our preferred approach.  This was the moment when we might well have fallen away.  The fact that we have stayed in contention with a patched up team for so long is thanks to Youri's genius but also down to an unlikely hero who has really stepped up when we needed him.

Without Kelechi we would be nowhere.  Probably mid-table.

Any season with an FA Cup win is magnificent.  Our second best of all time, but leaving that aside for a minute and just focusing on the league campaign, I think we have had an outstanding season that we have stayed in contention in the face of setbacks and adversity.  Yes, people will point to missed opportunities especially Southampton and Newcastle where the last minute loss of Evans threw us into disarray.  However, every team has moments like that.  If Chelsea fail, they could point to their failure to beat West Brom twice and shipping five goals at home.  Liverpool have had similar games.

I don't think we will beat Spurs today.  I just think that there is nothing left in the tank and we are carrying too many injured and out of form players but when the dust settles we should be proud of a fantastic league campaign.

I don't agree with every word, but very well said sir.

I can't believe I'm saying this but whatever happens today I'm glad it's the final day of the season. The emotional investment I've had in alot of these games recently has been at an all time high. The man u game and the cup final almost gave me a heart attack. Wouldn't change it though, never known a moment of sheer joy like when that teilimans goal went in,  and hoping for similar joy today with us making the champions league. But my dicky ticker , and my poor family do need a break now! ( For a few weeks, then can get well into the euros !)

I agree. An entire season watching us twice a week in empty stadiums.on TV. The schedule has left me exhausted just watching. Goodness only knows how the players feel.

Poor Youri, Timmy, Cags  Praet still have the wretched euros to compete in.

I just hope the rest of the squad get out to portugal and soak up some sun and get a summer's rest

Pretty relaxed actually as I think I've prepared myself mentally for disappointment. This is usually a good sign as I didn't think we'd win the cup. In fact, usually when I'm confident we balls it up and when I think it will go badly we pull it out the bag. That's being a Leicester fan I suppose..
