fazzyfox Posted 21 May 2021 Posted 21 May 2021 I'd prefer it if they (Spurs) didn't have so much to play for themselves and Kane will want that Golden Boot again but I get the feeling Mason has told them to just go out and express themselves rather than have a tactical approach and it's not been for the better, they were wide open against Villa, lots of space between DM and CB which Maddison should relish. Can see a high scoring 3-3 (hopefully not) or 3-2. Villa fan for the day and not too hopeful that Palace even with Hodgson wetiring, and if they use every twick in his wepertoire they won't have enough plus factor in the VAR dial set to Liverpool. You just know there will be late goals in one or two of the games, just lucky I got a ticket rather than face the SKY bias for their chosen few clubs. Would make sense to get something out of Ricardo and Praets relative freshness but otherwise we havelimited options for change. Would have loved it to be a dead rubber game and see Morgan, Fuchs and the likes of Tavares or Leshbela get a run out. 1
Matt Posted 21 May 2021 Posted 21 May 2021 I appreciate the short notice and expense that goes into banners and flags, I also would assume a large chunk of Union FS members went to Wembley last week therefore wouldn’t have been allowed tickets to this and the fact social distancing is in place wouldn’t really give a great visual display for a Tifo for example but I’ve just seen a post by Union FS with a “Captain Morgan” banner and was wondering if anyone or anyone associated with the group knows if there are plans for any other banners, flags etc for Sunday.

He’s done a fantastic job at Wolves. He had a wonderful brand of football. It’s been difficult for them this year. You need your best players, and they’ve had Jimenez out and Jota went to Liverpool. He will leave as a legend of the club. They want to be in the top six. They’ll part and sometimes that’s needed.” 14:07JORDAN BLACKWELL Kane? “There’s always speculation in this game. We’ll prepare to play against a top team. Harry’s a world-class striker. He’s shown how important he is to them. We’ll plan for him, and the other talented players they have like Son and Gareth. We have to be ready for that.” 14:07JORDAN BLACKWELL Following other results? “Thankfully the numbers aren’t too big. We’ll get the message through. There might be a moment in the game where we need a goal, so it’s important we’re aware of where the game is at.” 14:07JORDAN BLACKWELL Anxious fans? “I’m sure there will be, but that’s okay. There will be tension, but we want them there. We’ve missed the supporters, that roar could make the difference for us. It felt like four or five times the 6,000 at Wembley. Hopefully we can do them proud.” 14:07JORDAN BLACKWELL Role for Morgan at City? “We need to sit down in the summer and see where he’s at. He has ideas of what he wants to do. He needs to have a break first. I’m pretty sure there is a role for him here. It’s to help him with his ambitions, whether that’s coaching, as a director of football. We want to facilitate that.” 14:06JORDAN BLACKWELL Why Morgan so good? “He has been through all of the emotions in the game. He looks after his team-mates. He’s always had a smile on his face. If you look at him at the weekend. We thought if the ball was coming into the box for the last 10 minutes, there’s not many better than Wes Morgan at heading it away. He came on and was very important. Early on in my career here, away at Sheffield United, how he stood up strong in the box. In my time here, scoring away at Burnley, I’ll never forget. When the team needed to dig deep, he could do that. 14:06JORDAN BLACKWELL Most difficult thing about transfers? “It’s always about players fitting our model. We want players to replace the experience but we also want young hungry players who are keen to learn. The club have been brilliant in supporting that. Then we can look forward to an exciting season.” 14:06JORDAN BLACKWELL How to take next step? “It’s about sustaining. If we could become a sustainable club in European football, that shows we’re successful. Commercially we’re 10th, for budget we are eighth. Can we improve that finance? That will help for players. It will be difficult to compete with clubs three or four times our budget but it doesn’t stop us fighting. The lowest we will finish is sixth this season. We want to fight for trophies.” 14:06JORDAN BLACKWELL Hunger for more trophies? “I’ve always had it. That’s why I came. I wanted to try to bring success to the club. Winning leagues is important but when you win a cup, the emotion is different. The feel-good factor is still there for the players. They’re winners. It should take them to another level. We won our first trophy together and we have something to show for our work.” 14:05JORDAN BLACKWELL Next captain? “It’s something we’ll look at. There’s no doubt he’s an inspirational leader. Captains have to be selfless, and when Kasper’s been on the field, he’s done that. We have decisions to make over the summer over who is captain, and who is vice-captain." 14:05JORDAN BLACKWELL How to replace Morgan and Fuchs? “That’s something we’ve looked at, in particular the two guys who have been with us. Wes’s presence will be missed. He’s been a part of and a help with the success. Fuchsy is the ultimate professional. The club did fantastic to get him on a free transfer. He has shown how he has communicated with supporters. Such a likeable guy. They are friends and the door will always be open for them to come back.” 14:05JORDAN BLACKWELL Final day? “I don’t think it’s over yet. I have that optimism. If we do our job, we can do no more than that. What we don’t want is for the door to be open for us and us not to walk through it. So we need to get a victory and see where it takes us.” 14:05JORDAN BLACKWELL Injuries? “Jonny Evans will miss out. Everyone else who was available the other night will be available.” 14:04JORDAN BLACKWELL Expecting a twist? “It doesn’t finish until the final whistle. We’ve all played bad games at certain points, but after 38 games, you finish where you deserve to finish. You can only control yourselves. Tottenham are looking for a win as well. Thankfully we’ll have supporters in there. I’m sure they will have an impact.” 14:04JORDAN BLACKWELL Follow results? “That’s natural. Last game of the season, we’ll have an indication of what’s going on elsewhere.” 14:04JORDAN BLACKWELL Thinking about Chelsea and Liverpool? “We can only control what we do. Chelsea and Liverpool have talented players but we can’t control anything about their games. Our focus is us. Let’s finish on 69 points.” 14:04JORDAN BLACKWELL Been in top four all season? “There’s no doubt it would be disappointing, we can’t mask that. We were elated with the FA Cup but we would be disappointed. We would have no one to blame. We take the responsibility ourselves. We’ll fight to the end. We’ll all come back in the summer and be even more motivated if we don’t make it. We’re trying to sustain the performance and we’ll push on next season.” 14:04JORDAN BLACKWELL Final game? “This week has been about perspective. That’s something I will look back over the course of the season, everything we have had to deal with, a European campaign, injuries to key players. Our concentration is winning the game against a talented Spurs team. If we finish on 69 points and don’t make it into the Champions League, we have been unfortunate. Everyone has had to work so hard with the scheduling of the games. In the last game, we are fighting with two of Europe’s biggest clubs for a place in the Champions League. Have we improved? We certainly have.” 14:03JORDAN BLACKWELL Matty James? “I’m so pleased for Matty, when I came in it was difficult for him with injuries. He was a big part of the great escape. He sees the game from the highest level. He has just been unfortunate with those injuries, but this season he’s played nearly 40 games and we’ll miss him. He’s such an honest guy and a very talented player.” 14:03JORDAN BLACKWELL Fuchs? “Christian came to City as a free transfer and played a huge role in the title-winning season. Similar to Wes, he had an important role for me. Whether he’s played or not, he’s been an incredible professional. He has the right attitude that I wanted to instil in our younger players. He’s a really good person. It will be his last day training tomorrow.” 14:03JORDAN BLACKWELL Morgan? “To have played over 750 games, to not have played top-flight football until he was 30 years of age, to have won three trophies, he has an iconic status here. He will always be a legend here as the captain who lifted the trophy. Sadly his career has come to an end. He’s an amazing guy. It was important for me to keep him here as an important person in the changing room. It’s a sad day when they’ve been playing since they were six and call it a day at 37. He will retain an association with the club.” 13:35JORDAN BLACKWELL Rodgers has arrived Updates will start coming through in around 20-25 minutes' time. 13:27JORDAN BLACKWELL Good afternoon! 6

Newcastle game was a bit off a one of to me. Southampton for sure. My point wasn't really that they're aren't a good set of players more that right now with a young rookie caretaker manager, the Kane situation, out of the CL spots, their mental situation is their to be exploited. 1
Popular Post Paninistickers Posted 21 May 2021 Popular Post Posted 21 May 2021 The more I think about this, the more I'm.convinced one of Liverpool or Chelsea will buckle under the pressure and draw. They've both been hovering around fifth all.season for a reason, namely thier current teams just aren't quite good enough. So it's up to us to dish out a proper 'Sunday night dinner' to Tottenham 😛 5

SuperMike Posted 21 May 2021 Posted 21 May 2021 Hope to god that Soyuncu has applied to the FA for his 'Rudiger Pass' .....so he can kick seven shades of sh*t out of Kane, and not recieve a single card or warning. 1 1
gw_leics772 Posted 21 May 2021 Posted 21 May 2021 (edited) I personally think at least one of the 3 of us will lose. Just hope it's not us. Only way to he certain though is go for they goal difference. Double figures ought to do it i reckon Edited 22 May 2021 by gw_leics772

And as you say, it is up to us to dish out to Spurs, but we could end up losing, just like how we expected to beat West Ham, Newcastle or Southampton. So even if Liverpool or Chelsea drop points, it may not matter. Quite sad but I have no optimism anymore.

st albans fox Posted 21 May 2021 Posted 21 May 2021 I think we can expect another v pragmatic approach from the manager no way will we go for goals in an attempt to close out Liverpool’s goal difference .....our best chance is to just get any win we can and hope that the other two don’t both win. Going for lots of goals would mean we run the risk of not controlling our game (which is something we know BR hates). Remember that 5-4 loss at Wembley - 4-2 up away and losing the game. That’s the kind of game that would make Brendan apoplectic! Expect the 3 atb again and maybe Ricky could get the nod on the right ahead of Marc .....ayo behind kel and vards 1
jim5000 Posted 21 May 2021 Posted 21 May 2021 I'd like to see Ricky back in action, he was the only bright spark in our performance when he came on against Chelsea and he almost setup the equaliser. 2

Score 10 or more against Spurs and we finish above Liverpool. 😁 1 1

But they're who they are for a reason, and in addition to clubs who expect to be in the CL (which ours clearly doesn't) they're simply both better than we are on the pitch at the moment. A lot better.
