I don't think it is a last resort, he's been going to it since his very first game in charge here. If Rodgers has Evans Soyuncu and Fofana available I guarantee he'd start with a back five, as he did in the second half of the previous two seasons.

He really wouldn't, didn't do that for January and February when all 3 were fit until Maddison and Barnes got injured.

We were playing it last season with Barnes and Maddison available, remember how often we had Praet or Maddison out wide? We played Fuchs as the LCB in a three quite regularly in the first half of the season until Soyuncu returned. Most of those games we were poor until he changed formation second half, maybe because it was behind closed doors its less memorable.

Interesting correlation, if true, with us switching to a back 5 and having a terrible 2nd half to each of those seasons.  Having said that, subsequent comments on here cast doubt on the synchronicity of the two events.  Pity.  It's a good theory for those of us who can't stand the back 5.

18th best academy according to Training Guru

Points are weighted according to the level an Academy graduate played at last season (from Premier League to National League) and in cases in which they attended more than one Academy (which is common), the points are split between the clubs.

U18s play Bournemouth in the cup down here tomorrow night. My horrendous luck continues this season and I'm not able to go. It's at the stadium and was only a fiver

That's a shame you could have given us all a report on Chris Popov. Hopefully there'll be a stream, there often is in the latter rounds.

Yeah would have loved to have gone. Went to St Mary's a few years back in the same competition, saw Hamza, Barnes and Chilwell.

Not Leicester related but I worked for a team who played Chelsea in the youth cup last year. Anyway we had a 15 year old (highly rated by the club) at left back who got terrorised by their right back. Certain staff made a big point to this 15 year old lad of how big the gap was between our club and Chelsea and how a lot of Chelseas players won't make it in the professional game. Fast forward not even 12 months and that same right back has been played week in week out in the premier League on loan at Southampton lol it's a great competition for getting to watch some real talented young players.

Do we know if we will be able to watch this at all tonight?

Kasey McAteer has gone to Forest Green Rovers on loan. Hopefully they aren't going to blow their run for promotion this season, and it will be a nice positive experience for him.

Excellent news, hopefully a few more get loans too before Monday.

Hope it goes well for him, if it does and they go up could potentially go back next season too.

I would say 'its hard to see how they won't go up right now'. But after last season...! Hopefully no more freak injuries this year. Did anyone see what their striker did to his hand? Not one to look at whilst eating your dinner. (I follow FGRs results, so I am quite excited about this one in general - hoping we have agreed a preseason friendly alongside the deal..!).

What system do FGR play? Wonder whether he'll play as an ACM or a wing back, they seem to be his two favoured positions in our academy.

Forest Green’s director of football, Rich Hughes, thanked City for allowing the deal to go through, which he felt was “too good to turn down”.

He said: "We're really pleased to have Kasey on board with us for the remaining games of the season. His athleticism, technical ability and flexibility provides us with another good addition to the squad.

"Our position coming into the window was that we were really happy with the group and that has continued, however we felt that the opportunity to bring Kasey into the group was too good to turn down, he is a player we have tracked for a long period of time and think he will be an asset for the second half of the season.

"We would like to thank Leicester for their help in finalising the deal and look forward to seeing Kasey in an FGR shirt.”
