Something else to note is how good his defensive stats are for a forward. He averages over 2 tackles a game which might not sound like much, but actually puts him in the top 10% of strikers across Europe for that stat. That means that peak Vardy style, he can press relentlessly from the front, which pushes the entire team further up the pitch and means we play football in the opposition half not ours. He is strong and has stamina, something that Soumare has too, and Rodgers has gone on record to say we need more physicality in the team. Daka and Soumare potentially not only help us going forwards, but backwards too. It adds more height and presence in both boxes for set pieces for example.

Amazing to me that no one brings up his managers at RB Salzberg in Marco Rose and Jesse Marsch. World class for me. He's had as good coaching as we could hope for for our attacking style of play. Daka really is the perfect fit for us. Does anyone remember Salzberg playing Liverpool in the Champions League mano a mano. Give me 9 more exactly like him and let them fly.lol

The fvck were they getting their hopes up for anyway?

One Burnleyesque freak season in the top half and they think they're relevant, Christ.

Rejecting West Ham and joining Leicester would make this even sweeter.  Especially since Fofana did the same last year lol

What I like about him from these YouTube clips is that he appears to try and take his shot early, not letting the keeper get set and catching them out of position.

Biblically that’s going to be very tough, unless you’re Caglar obviously.

😭 To explain my rep point which is technically for sad. I'm not sad, it just made my eyes water (and my crinkly rosebud clench) just thinking about it.😱

Football is emotional and there is nothing wrong with fans getting carried away, he looks like one of the brightest prospects in Europe so people should feel entitled to be excited. Leicester aren't even my first team obviously and it's a signing that really excites me.

The 'x' would score 40/50 goals in 'x' league is such a lazy argument. The scottish league is the pits right and there are numerous players, strikers also have done well in England and came up here and flopped. It's not always black and white.

You think Dortmund fans weren't excited when they signed Haaland from the Austrian league? Barcelona fans weren't excited when they signed Neymar? I'm not saying Daka will be as good as either of them but it's the same principles.

The might not be your first team but they are definitely looking like being you last team (and current) 😘

Behind only Mbappe and Haaland in terms of European strikers? Too good to be true? There must be a catch. Surely?

The catch is only that that's a ridiculous statement.  But if we could get him at under 30 million it's still a great signing.

He’s Won 7 trophies and he’s only 22 that’s some achievement, He’s one of the best young strikers in Europe at the moment and I think he has all the attributes to do well at this level. Him and Iheanacho and Vardy upfront will be goals galore. :D

He looks great - fingers crossed it happens. Could see him being a longer term Vardy replacement.

Would still love to sign a proper old fashioned tall striker who is good in the air though - an area we really lack.

Brendan has already shot down the idea of a target man I am afraid

didnt know that. maybe my etoo comparison isnt so bad then. remember etoo working his socks off for jose in 2010. in general daka fills me with confidence. he has the intagibles and ability tbh. seems way more our type of signing than edouard. edouard seems a bit more slow and lanky.

....languid, just a different style!!!

Yep - I wouldn’t necessarily want that type of player as a regular starter, I just think they are great, particularly if you are chasing a game against a team sitting back. Adds a bit of variety / a different threat to what we have.

Perhaps because Brendan is so small, he has a bit of a complex 😂.

I once applied for the job of a target man in the army. I got the job but turned it down, they were regularly advertising the post so I guessed the working conditions must be shit.

If you head the ball in the oppositions box, you get the sack

That’s what I thought. Doesn’t have to go for inch-perfect placement in the bottom corner if he does that.

What about Soumare? Barnes? Ricardo? Soy? I'm getting a headache just trying to think about how we can accomodate our best players.

Barnes as the 10 alternative?

No, that will be Perez I reckon in that formation.

Barnes for me would come in on the left of a 433

Or if we don't get a right winger, and need or want to play a 442 or 4141 would feature on the left side of midfield with Daka playing right wing until Vardy comes off and being replaced with Albrighton perhaps with Daka moving up front.

You've got your full backs flipped and Iheanacho would be a terrible wide forward. Plus if you're going to do that you don't really want to play with a 10.

If you're going to have that sort of front three you want Daka and Vards in the channels and Nacho as more of a false 9 doing the Bobby Firmino bit dropping in to space towards the ball in the centre (hence why you don't also want a 10.)

In this scenario, either Madders plays at 8 as he did in Rodgers year 1 or Soumare starts instead.

It does sound promising on paper but Vards hasn't played extensively as a wider player in years, Daka never really has and both would need to be coached to defend effectively from there.

Moreover, whilst Iheanacho does do his best work as a 10 or false 9 linking up with other forwards, his first touch and his passing are both far too inconsistent to be relied upon to do it as first choice.

So basically, probably not.

I don’t remember Gosling being linked with any of those clubs? Big step up from the MMC.
