Regardless of who plays in the defensive positions, having 6 defensive players on the pitch at home is so, so negative.  It's going to be a long afternoon.

Shows how concerned he is with his defensive players a la 2018

Having to play the less experienced Mings is not an excuse to play Trippier at left back. Now Mings has a harder job on his hands when he has to cover the space left behind Trippier when he cuts inside.

It's compounding the problem, not helping it.

Use of 'bottled up' phrase when interviewing Kane, wholly appropriate

Croatia will always have great technical ability and the craft of Modric but the ability of Grealish to go past players (and / or earn 27 set pieces around the box per game) and Kane's finishing would have been enough, now not so sure, having said that Stirling earns his fair share of dubious pens

I don’t get that line up at all.

Shaw has been really good this season defensively and to not play him, is criminal. This international experience thing is a bit silly as well. They play football for a living and have played hundreds of games, lots against these players.

Mings shouldn’t be in the squad, never mind the team.

Asking him about trophies, is not appropriate - what does he know about winning these?

I could not agree with this more. It's football. Pick a formation and a style of play and then pick the best footballers to suit.

That sounds like heresy :P

I don’t think it would be an England team without a bizarre choice

I'd prefer to play Shaw and just brief him not to go gung-ho than someone who didn't play left back for his club all season. There will be a logic somewhere, maybe he and Walker will switch at some point or he plans to go to a 5 at some point, tuck in Walker, Trippier to RB and bring a LB on. But Shaw could tuck in at LCB so, no, no logic there....:dunno:. He's experienced! That's it, that's the one, that's the old chestnut

Southgate is as predictable as ever - looks at all his attacking midfield options, then picks 2 DMs, and the only attacking CM is his only permissable choice in any circustances, which is Mason Mount. Grealish is lucky to be in the squad at all, he isn't a Southgate golden boy like Mount, so he will spend his summer watching from the bench as England deliver the attacking threat of a tranquilised sloth. Just like how Maddison couldn't be picked for a squad when he was on form because he didn't have "enough Premiership experience", while Mount was selected while he was playing for Derby.

Why is Sancho not on the bench?

No idea. One of England’s most dangerous young attacking players imo

Booing an opponent's anthem is low class and only motivates them.
