Oh wow, Craig Mackail-Smith is playing for Bedford Town who are semi-pro

Barry Fry's son in law.

Barry lives in Bedford and has a little bit of influence down here, I believe.

Nearly always have friendlies v Posh.

Rubbish place to watch footy as its out of the town.

Took my kids there a few years back and it cost more to get in, than we paid per match for our 3 tickets in the family stand, whilst we were in the championship.

Didn't know the game was on tonight, as I might have gone.

Usually only go if there's international footy on and meet up there with a few of my mates

Sad as it may be if I won the lottery one of the first things I’d do is buy that football club and move it to the rugby ground in the town centre.  Absolutely daft place to have a non-league football ground.

Are we sure this is a trial with a view to a loan or a transfer?

There has been 0 suggestion from anywhere that it is in anticipation of a transfer, everywhere has suggested it is a loan - no reason to think otherwise really

You might as well set light to your winning ticket.

They are clueless down there and will probably never get anywhere.

Decent sized town that could pull in a crowd and has some decent history.

Once knocked Newcastle, in the Jackie Milburn days out of the FA Cup and bought Arsenal back for a replay after a draw at Highbury(and was cheated... Needed VAR😄)

The rugby club have a really good set up in town.

Loads of people that I know, who are football fans, go to the rugby, as its a much better laugh.

There's a really big snobbery from the rugby lot to the football and they don't want 'that sort' in their ground as its such a pleasant atmosphere.

After last Sunday, they might have a valid point.

Not sure I'd let him go permanently unless theres a buyback

Nah unlikely we'd let him go permanently, he's meant to be highly rated at the club.

Have Luton loaned any players successfully in recent times?

Of course they will take Leshabela on a loan if he is good enough.  If they want him permanently, it suggests he has impressed on trial

I doubt Jones is wishing that KDH hadn't played for Luton last year as he was only on loan.

Looks like the Luton manager is trying to pull a fast one and doesn't want a KDH situation.

Only reason to buy and not want a loan after a trial is you think you're getting a bargain with a sure thing.

Leshabela back at us guess Luton don’t want him?!

Is he back? I imagine we weren't willing to do a permanent deal like they wanted then, and they must feel he isn't quite good enough to warrant a loan

Should still be able to get him a loan in the Championship hopefully - Blackburn haven't signed anyone since their interested was first revealed on 2nd July so could still be a target for them

I think League One at a promotion chasing side is his level right now. I think he'd go to a Championship club and it would be very easy not to play him.

I think so as well, but I do find it interesting that quite a few Championship clubs have reported interest in him, hopefully if he does get a Championship loan it doesn't end up like Hirst's

....does this make sense!!!

I am just trying to understand the logic, if they believe he is good enough to pick up on a permanent contract, why would he not be good enough for a loan, perhaps to get him on a permanent contract at the end of the season if the player pushes for it.

Maybe because a season long loan will not help them in the short term, but they think maybe they could develop him over a two year period.

Willing to take him on a permanent because they would feel he is a player they could develop, but on loan he currently wouldn't be as important a player to them at the moment like KDH was

Quotes below from the Luton manager

If Leshabela does join though from the Foxes, it is likely to be on a permanent basis for the South African youth international, as Jones added: “We’d probably prefer not to take loans if I'm honest.

“We don't need to take loans, we've got a real full squad of players that we’re really happy with and they are ours.

“We take a loan if we can't get them as they're probably slightly out of our reach or the club don’t want to do that, but they improve us significantly like KDH (Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall) last year.

“We knew that he would improve us significantly so he was worth the fact we took a loan.

Interesting how suengchitthawon is still with the seniors and not up in Scotland, I think Daley-Campbell is still with the firsts too

Regularly happens each pre-season.
