An island that needs trade/workers from the EU and other countries to function. This statement is far too simplistic to be an argument. 100 of years previous, maybe possible. But in 2021 not really viable.

Did you miss the Brexit vote?

Yes, but we still need trade and workers in the country for it to function! We didn’t just stop trading with Europe stop people working here.

So you don't need to be vaccinated, show a negative test or wear a mask?

This won't end well, yet to see any 'expert' who actually agrees with this.

...workers are actually going back home as jobs are available and the pay is equal or better!!!

The salient point was the lack of follow up on people coming into the country and the dereliction of the Government to ensure our safety by the implementation of a coherent policy in this respect.

Agreed, but a million EU workers left and you have to earn 26k a year to be allowed to work in the UK of you're from outside the EU.

So there are eu/non European workers. That’s my point. We should encourage that where there are skills gaps/shortages. People leaving are the lower paid work force, but again soon they’ll be a shortage in certain jobs because of this. Veg pickers/packers/factory workers

anyway - back to the thread. Looks like a potential full stadium. Not sure how I feel about that.

At least it hopefully means Wembley should be full for the community shield, should be able to get a ticket and not have wasted the time I spent on booking hotel rooms and parking lol

It's largely infecting unvaccinated young people and causing few hospital admissions or deaths, if that remains the case then its time to end this nonsense and live and enjoy our lives again.  We can't live like this any longer.

Until a new variant appears that could bypass the vaccine entirely (as the Delta strain partially does already) because we've let infection rates sky rocket (which is where variant probability rises) and then we can all look at ourselves and go, "Oh, who knew?!?!" like idiots. We've not once attempted to get control over this virus and we've been given MULTIPLE chances to do so. This is no different.

Do you reckon they will ID check at wolves game? I.e. ID to match ST.

No. They always threaten stuff like this and it never happens.

maybe we need to show some personal responsibility then?

Working very well over here in the states. Those that feel the need to wear a mask do, and those that don’t, dont. Covid numbers keep dropping  over here.

Back to full capacity and no restrictions etc. so I can't imagine they would do that for all 32,000 people

I think it was only in place for the games at the end of the season because match tickets had to match up with the people who had completed the health questionnaires

Exactly that we have to take the final bold step or we will never get anywhere, enough of the babysitting and mollycoddling, people need to take personal responsibility now

We've been told to wear face coverings as it mostly protects those around us. I can take personal responsibility to do that when I feel necessary. However, I can't require others to do the same to protect me. Does this personal responsibility thing work both ways?

I wonder if you extend this logic into other areas of life. I don't see anything wrong in mandating people wear masks on things like busy pubic transport where you're relying on other people around you to take responsibility. It's a pretty hassle thing to wear that is known to reduce chances of cross infection at a point where infection rates are climbing, where variants are a thing and where already we have close to 400,000 people suffering from sever long COVID symptoms for over a year. This idea of now or never is a fallacy (the same one Boris and his cronies have been rolling out recently). It also doesn't take into account that only half of UK adults have been fully vaccinated.

masks also has some benefit to the wearer as well, you are correct that you can’t personally require others to do it, but just because someone isn’t wearing a mask doesn’t mean they haven’t taken personal responsibility they might just feel that a mask is not necessary

85% of adults have had 1 jab, 67% have had 2 jabs,

by middle of September every over 18 will have had the opportunity to have had both by then, the vaccines are working although cases are still at last December’s number times far less people are being admitted to hospital, 36 in every 100,000 was being admitted in December now it’s 2 in every 100,000
