West brom had been in the prem far more recently and we’re still getting parachute payments I think..

...parachute payments do not compare with the hundreds of millions paid out by Villa and Leeds!!!

We paid a fine on it. Where's their one?

Qpr also got fined 40m for something similar.

the discussion wasn’t about wether we paid a fine Or not but about the pot calling the kettle black

The amount of money Villa and Leeds have splashed out is unreal.

Leeds haven't spent that much, don't forget that getting promoted means you suddenly have an extra few hundred million (including parachute payments) and a sage bill that can be attacked with gusto. It's harder once you've been in the PL for a few seasons. Villa are just obscene, they are taking a huge gamble but at a time where they can probably get away with it.

We can't operate like we did due to getting fined. Villa seems to be ignoring the rules. I'm not getting moral about it, just saying they should be punished.

Or Grealish’s cold feet are over and they will soon be flush

Hasn't stopped them rinsing over £300m in 2 seasons.

Sometimes when you try and buy a team, like us under Sven, there is no cohesion, just a set of talented players who ultimately underperform.

Villa could go either way. They certainly are making a statement in the transfer market and if the keep Grealish could push top 6.

I actually think we have been operating more within our budget because we have been diverting funds to pay for the training ground and possible stadium expansion.

Villa don’t have any of that to contend with so are using all their available budget for players. It’s making them look like big spenders and they sort of are, but they are looking forward,  not behind them like West Brom, etc did.

The past ten transfer windows have seen Villa pay £356m for players and only earn £59m back in sales, creating a net deficit of £297m that is the seventh-highest in Europe.

That's not with this summers spending , only behind Everton 303m, Man U 515m and Man C 554m in the PL, and behind , Inter, 338m PSG 400m, Barca 413m.

Dean Smith needs to deliver Euro and Trophies for that sort of investment, man will be under pressure this season.

But that’s just on transfers isn’t it? Doesn’t include other net incomes?

True but I doubt they are earning anything near the likes of 5 of the other 6 on the list.

Would love him. If Carlsberg did transfer windows…

Im not so sure he would be the answer. Just last summer people were comparing him to Gray in terms of end product. He had a good season but I wouldnt be as excited by him as some of the other options

I think this lad is very good and potentially incredible. I recall when we signed Tieleman’s we were told he was a bit erratic and indeed Monaco could wait to get rid.

I wouldn’t mind giving this lad a crack at the Mahrez crown. We could do much much worse.

82m last 5 seasons

just 10m last 3 windows

Villa have had their £30m initial bid rejected, if reports are to believed.
I doubt at the figures suggested, we would be able to complete in this market for him 🤔

...I still see £30m would be enough to pick him up...I wonder if we have made any enquiries!!!

With all due respect to Villa it's all about beating the drum on the European football and importantly too the training ground.

Soumare sounded blown away by it in his interview yesterday (where they called him bouba - so I guess bouba it is)
