AKCJ Posted 30 July 2021 Posted 30 July 2021 Nigh on £40m would be a lot but he'd be a massive upgrade on what we have. 1
sdb Posted 30 July 2021 Posted 30 July 2021 Heard very mixed things about him. Anyone got an objective and balanced view of him?

Ric Flair Posted 30 July 2021 Posted 30 July 2021 No wonder why Villa wanted this sorted before Grealish went. £40m seems a lot since the impact of the pandemic but then again we paid about £30m for Fofana after he'd played only 20 games. Bailey's mediocre years of 2018/19 and 2019/20 will raise question marks but he was deployed as a left winger and since Diaby has broken through and he's been shifted back out to the right he's been pretty bloody good. It's a lot of money but I'd say he's definitely worth £30m and maybe not £40m, they'll probably meet half way won't they. 1
Pliskin Posted 30 July 2021 Posted 30 July 2021 Thing is, he will go to Villa and stink the place out…. You just know it, he will come here and be a revelation.

He’s a more accomplished player and just all round better and keen to join. No way we should be spending that much on an inconsistent player like Bailey. 2
martyn Posted 30 July 2021 Posted 30 July 2021 Wouldn't say no to Bailey, but would prefer both Berardi and Pereira. Don't know enough about Madueke.

leuven Posted 30 July 2021 Posted 30 July 2021 (edited) I remember bailey from when he started out his career in Genk (where Ndidi and Castagne played). Very talented, lots of pace. Questionable entourage if I remember correctly. I did not follow him afterwards in Germany. Definitely an upgrade as he has the ability to go past defenders. I would however prefer Berardi if that's a possibility. Edited 30 July 2021 by leuven
Outfox the Fox Posted 30 July 2021 Posted 30 July 2021 https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1469961/Man-City-transfer-news-Jack-Grealish-100m-bid-Aston-Villa-latest With £100m soon to be in the bank, no doubt Villa will be able to pay the £30m+ for Bailey.
Foxxed Posted 30 July 2021 Posted 30 July 2021 I doubt we'll blow 45 million. Perhaps 35. Is he a winger in the same sense Barnes is a winger?
FoxesWalk Posted 30 July 2021 Posted 30 July 2021 Far too much money for a very inconsistent player IMO. Would be bottom of the list of wingers we’ve been linked with for me at that price. Better than what we have regardless? Probably.

I honestly think he'd only be a slight upgrade on the lad we had this time last year and has just been shipped out of his new club to Everton for what they paid for him

He's had 2 seasons from 4 in the Bundesliga where he has scored and assisted more than 15 for the season. I don't think he's worth £40m with only 2 years left on his deal but he's a damn good player. 1

An Away Move Posted 30 July 2021 Posted 30 July 2021 Seems like we want him. I’m excited by the idea. We have to be a more exciting prospect for him than a Villa side without Grealish? But they are probably making him feel very wanted.
