Not sure why people oppose it.

Its not like it takes more than  a few seconds.

And (as others have mentioned) when players, like the 3 England lads, still get racially abused by people, the message of the importance of equality that taking the knee is trying to remind us over, is clearly still relevant. While footballers are still being abused online and on the pitch etc, its important for football to take a united stance against those who'd discriminate or use racist language.

I just dont see it as something that should upset anyone, unless, of course, you're not happy about the message it symbolises.

Just so you know, there were only a handful of people from England who directed racist abuse to the England players online, majority of accounts came from abroad. You may already know

With respect on this one if someone boos players taking a stand against racism I can’t see how that doesn’t make them racist? And don’t give me any shit about how the knee is linked to BLM Marxism.

It is linked to BLM.
Last season when there were no fans in the ground most clubs had BLM banners up in the stands. When games were on sky they were putting up the BLM logo all the time during games.

Why can’t we just enjoy the football and put all the politics to one side ?

It could come from people living in outer space!

Racism is just plain wrong from wherever or whoever it comes from, and its right to stand united against it.

Exactly right.

As others have said there is nothing political with taking the knee.

The players aren't asking anyone in the stadium to copy them.

Its just every player, in every team in the Premier League reminding everyone there is no place for racism in the game, and they are all united in this ideal.

Do you really think all the players agree with doing it ?

I think a lot of them do it because there scared not to / don’t want to be questioned as to why there not doing it.

And the UK does, its illegal to be racist and I don't know anyone that disagrees with this. There will always be racists in all communities from people of different colours, so what can you do?

Really? If you say so.

I know - I was there...pen three. It was more a slow chant/handclap clap that built and culminated in the goal kick. The drawn out 'aaaaaaaaahhhs' after are an addition over the years. Fortunate then that you assure me it's still hilarious.

No, that'll be nothing more than a fanbase with shoe size IQ still milking it some 40 years later.

Indeed - the football fan is easily pleased. I think you meant cock.

It doesn't offend me in the slightest - I do think it's embarrassing and old though. I also think it's tragic that I see so many kids joining in with their parents behind the goal in the Kop.

lol You realise that there's a lawn bowls thread on this forum? Yes?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Nah they’ve literally said why they do it. You are linking it because you chose to.

Or there not linking it because they choose to ?

Well the Premier League players are choosing to take the knee.

And I still fail to see why that's upsetting some people so much.

There's some right ****ing oddballs in our fan base. I was stood behind some morons who spent the whole first half abusing our own fans for sitting down behind the goal. I prefer to stand but singing and shouting abuse at people sitting including older people and children is bizarre.

George Floyd and what followed bought some protests debates and criticisms directed towards people and institutions in this Country which I and many think were unjust. The US has a problem, Kaepaniak taking the knee meant something, doing it in protest during the National Anthem, the UK just does not have those problems but some like BLM would like to divide and cause trouble saying those problems exist. The UK has come so far but last summers protests and what's happening in the media just causes divisions imo. I think that's what many think, and they see what the players are doing is part of that, I don't think they're racists, just not a fan of the movement which stemmed following George Floyd.

So let me get this straight

Applauding a political movement is good

Booing a political movement makes you a racist.

Jesus give it a rest 😴

People go to football to watch football not get tied up with political movements. This movement is making matters worse and causing hate. It shouldn't but it is.

Last comment on this today from me so I think we will agree to disagree however I see your side and respect it.

It is not a political movement, so you don't get anything straight. Hope that helps your thinking though I doubt it.

Doesn’t make sense

Why doesn’t it ?

so someone like Tyrone Mings who’s been a vocal supporter of taking the knee  isn’t going to come out and say the Reason he’s doing it is because he’s a supporter or BLM / Black supremacist is he ?
