I think that’s an easy excuse. Lots of those people will be regulars. Loads of people booing the players taking a knee beforehand.

18 months out of society, life lived online, probably in their own little echo chambers, and away from direct consequences for their actions has meant that a not insignificant minority  have become emboldened in their prejudice and the righteousness of that prejudice.

Well said, the current silo culture is really damaging across the board.

Not sure why people oppose it.

Its not like it takes more than  a few seconds.

And (as others have mentioned) when players, like the 3 England lads, still get racially abused by people, the message of the importance of equality that taking the knee is trying to remind us over, is clearly still relevant. While footballers are still being abused online and on the pitch etc, its important for football to take a united stance against those who'd discriminate or use racist language.

I just dont see it as something that should upset anyone, unless, of course, you're not happy about the message it symbolises.

The problem is it has been dragged into the wretched culture wars, which I regard as a loathsome American import. Sadly, the flames of division are fanned from inside No10, that Myrza woman runs it.

Of course, Boris, Priti and others shat the bed on the whole knee issue, and made themselves look stupid in front of the world. A common theme these days, but the greased piglet lives on for now.

Why doesn’t it ?

so someone like Tyrone Mings who’s been a vocal supporter of taking the knee  isn’t going to come out and say the Reason he’s doing it is because he’s a supporter or BLM / Black supremacist is he ?

You're starting to dig your own grave here. Black supremacism a big problem round your way?

4.30 in the mornig and I'm off to bed, but not before I say well done to our lads. Great day out. Our supporters were brilliant, the team were fantastic. We are the magicians of the Premiership, and love beating the rich clubs by knocking them over. :celebrate: :appl:

Same here, just behind me, they booed the knee, swore at least 3 times in every sentence, we're racist against fellow Leicester fans, abused a steward, like seriously I'm not even sure they watched the game. Morons. Why bother coming to the game if that's all you want to do. I was actually embarrassed for them. Kids everywhere but they were acting like yobby children.

Other than that, really enjoyed the day, so proud of this club, Top walking around with the Shield was the Icing on the cake.

‘Racist against fellow Leicester fans’ - I hope they were called out on this in person. It’s disgusting

Maybe because there’s a historical, quantifiable history that goes back more than 500 years. In which a particular group have been exploited for free labor, colonized, exploited for resources, denied rights and till date have massive disadvantages that have clear colorations with the injustices perpetrated on them. If there is a line for causes they are in a whole different line ahead of every other cause.

that's of course true, strange how it only started mattering in 2020 though? we all know it was initiated by the killing of George Floyd by an idiotic police man in America, and then pressured on to people by the black lives matter activists.

because people aren't shouting abuse at disabled, LGBT, Israel or battered women at the Football.

I see this type of thing used a lot. It muddies the water and tries to water down the issue being raised by throwing a load of others in.

You are in the minority with your thinking. That makes me happy.

are you honestly telling me you hear much if any racist abuse at football these days? if anything our society has made huge strides against racism in the last few decades.

We have representation of all those things. The taking of the knee is to highlight the scale of racism and say it is just not acceptable any more. As someone who stays off Twitter I am shocked by the levels of abuse people receive because of the colour of their skin. This gesture is shining a light on society and exposing a minority of vile disgusting individuals, but also allowing everyone who is not racist and doesn't really encounter racism a symbol to support and get behind. Supporting the taking of the knee says "I stand with you and agree enough is enough and we must all be doing more to tackle racism." Booing it is saying the opposite.

"it's not acceptable any more", bruh it never was acceptable but the kick racism out campaign has been going for a long time, far more palatable than a gesture of subservience done by people who had no input in to what happened to people before they were born. social media is banal and imbecilic anyway, I wouldn't use that as a measuring stick for society, and the vast, vast majority of the racism was found to originate from middle Eastern countries. again I would say we've done exceptionally well as a society.

Also 8,000 at the cup final made more racket and general encouragement than 20,000 (until we scored).

I love a drink - but the alcohol factors within our support been those two occasions were staggering, from Merry/jolly to downright stupid.

This isn’t me making some elitist comment about those of us lucky enough to go in May. More about the behaviour of crowds and masses

Another trophy tick and more incredible scenes at Wembley again, what's not to love?

It reminded of an F1 race where the team keeps the driver out but he is in desperate need of fresh rubber, I think we waited 10 minutes too late for the cavalry, considering it was a friendly, but that's all immaterial now.

I think we addressed the important fo questions i.e who for Fo?, BIG Dan, which fo?, we settled on 4-2-3-1 and is Maddison a friend or foe?, I'm still uncertain on that one, but I prefer to think friend.

I can confidently say this is the strongest position we've ever been in and continuity is now the driving force behind us.

We have so many options that only players that match the attitude of Iheanacho and Vardy are going to survive this season.

There were a huge number of staggeringly drunk and (so I am reliably informed) coked up men at Wembley. It is always men. Is it so hard to enjoy a few drinks and have a laugh without becoming totally moronic?

But that's the point it had became accepted that black footballers would get abuse on social media. The kick it out campaign did a good job of getting the racist comments and chants identified, educated football clubs and media as to how to tackle it and the general level of abuse at football grounds was pretty low. But it didn't actually tackle racism it just masked it. Abuse became an online problem and the platforms that allow this abuse to happen were and still are not doing enough. Not being racist at a football ground is not enough.

BTW it is not a gesture of subservience, if you still don't know what it is about, after over a year of doing it then there is no point me trying to explain you are clearly looking for reasons to undermine it. Just ask yourself this, should you meet Ndidi or Ricardo or Kel or Youri would you happily explain to them why they are wrong taking the knee?

It is linked to BLM.
Last season when there were no fans in the ground most clubs had BLM banners up in the stands. When games were on sky they were putting up the BLM logo all the time during games.

Why can’t we just enjoy the football and put all the politics to one side ?

Because racism isn't 'politics'.
