No regrets other than the odd shit tattoo.

Oh actually, I wish I'd acted with more self respect when my long term ex gf cheated on me. I also wish I'd sent the screenshots to the dude's wife.

Joining foxestalk.

Supporting LCFC and wasting all that time and money watching twenty two men competing to kick a round object into a net. What was the point?

It's weird - I can't really regret any of the decisions that I've made...because I made them with the tools/capability/maturity I had available to me at the time. So you've got to pretty much own them and move on, no?

As @Beliall said so well, you can't really look back and say you regret something you did or didn't do, as all of those decisions have led to some kind of learning curve for all subsequent decisions...unless I suppose you live in some weird Groundhog Day world and keep making the same decisions over and over...(Wenger, anyone)?

I digress.

I'm pretty happy with my attitude to risk, and some things have paid off and some haven't.

Minor irks are missing the Beastie Boys live and not flying on Concorde. Both real first world issues and not hugely important in the grand scheme of things.

Since I was a kid, I had a great plan to hitch hike round Europe by the time I was 18 and the world by 21...and take a trip on Concord. But they binned it after the accident before I could get the hat trick.

Fvckin hundreds, but none I dare post on here

Maybe I've got the wrong gist of the thread.

My regrets are mainly things I've done in life (mainly when pissed) rather than decisions I've made.

As a much younger man, having the girl of my dreams literally turn up at my house unannounced and basically ask me out, but because I was such a feeble mess somehow manage to not go out with her has got to be up there.

Yeah, I don't live by regrets, but I had the girl of my dreams and managed to fvck it up.

The thing is with stuff like this, I think you obsess over an idea rather than a reality. It took me years to realise that 90% of it was in my head and even if I'd got the result I'd wanted, it might have been a load of shit.

A few years later I was obsessing over a lass, getting pissed off with the lack of progress, and then events conspired to put the two of us together in a golden opportunity to GET IT ON and it turned out she was, to put it kindly, a complete twat

Definitely with relationships a lot of the "what could've been" doesn't really relate to day-to-day reality of a relationship and most of it is definitely in a person's head.

You can't really judge that I don't think until you've lived together for a couple of years and the relationship has become routine, even then I think "the person of your dreams" is a bit of an unrealistic Hollywood cliche and people with those ideas often end up in unhealthy co-dependent relationships.

Took me til into my late 30s/early 40s to realise that really your best partner is someone who supports you and talks you through with things, but the "madly in love for the first 6 months" relationships often (but not always) tend to up really unhealthy. Your happiness shouldn't really depend on your partner (and that initial euphoric feeling when you've found someone you really like and they make you feel great to be around, never lasts) so much that your partner should help support you when you're feeling low and help you find things which do make you happy.

Regret is the most pointless emotion there is, you can't change the past.

It is pointless yes but I consider hate and jealousy to be worse emotions. They churn you up and provide nothing but negative feelings.

Some folk get really triggered on here (and one thread in particular) when they should just ignore and/or lighten up and laugh it off.

Life's short. Enjoy the ride.

I was ignoring your juvenile posts, you quoted me. I don't hate you, and I'm certainly not jealous of you lol

There was no suggestion in my post above that I thought you (or anyone for that matter) hated me or were jealous of me, christ on a bike, that really is some extraordinary leap!!!!! Jeez!

I was merely saying that hate and jealousy, like regret, are pointless emotions!

The thing with regret is, if you do have the opportunity  to go back and change some6, like fitter gf, or at the time a better work/education who knows what that path inevitably  leads to?

You could have gotten that model looking gf who turns put to be a homicidal maniac.

You could have reaped the pleasure of that fast paced job earning big bucks but a few years down the line it's all come crashing down and your now living on the streets.

Most of the regrets are solely based on materialistic beliefs  you have missed out on.

If something you regret would have made you a better person then maybe it is a regret.

I never said it did, was just explaining my thoughts as the rest of your post was certainly about me, which I note you completely chose to ignore and not respond to.

Not everything is about you, don't flatter yourself lol

"Some folk" is the phrase I used. Even if you rearrange the letters it doesn't say "Facecloth".

Have a pleasant Sunday x
