The other factor they bleat about is but he doesn't fall over as much as ayew. How about, both are shit, get a striker in that does his job. It's a huge sign of our decline as a club. People are just excited to see our players actually run. Last weekend the away end was genuinely going mental seeing Daka close down after Ayew got dragged, like we were a 4th division side playing a big club in a cup tie. Embarrassing. 3

Akinbiyi managed roughly one in five. He was an expensive flop at the time but it’s not that bad. Daka makes him seem like Gabriel Batistuta in comparison. You’d struggle to find a more ineffective striker in our history given what we paid for him. Edited 21 February by RoboFox 3

Never seen somebody who isn't a big lad get fouled so much. Not for a second saying we should keep him by he is infinitely better than Ayew l, which unfortunately is the benchmark outside of the transfer window. It doesn't help that they constantly play an Enzo ball to him expecting anything other than him not winning a foul or losing the ball, the same with Ayew. when he got fouled it was from Okoli playing his brain reboot pass to him. At this point in his career, I don't think he can still call himself an attacker. 1

Akinbiyi was just such an immediate and huge downgrade though. We went from Cottee, Heskey, Marshall and Collymore to Akinbiyi, Benjamin and Cresswell in less than a year. That's why Taylor's reign is still by most seen as the worst, because a fantastic team was almost completely replaced in a season with crap players. 2
StanSP Posted 21 February Posted 21 February So deflating seeing the way he plays. He's not conducive to how a #9 should play with his back to goal. 1-2s never come off with the attacking midfielders, he doesn't roll his defender with any guile or pace, he's not strong in the air, he's not actually that agile. He's clumsy and languid. Oh and he can't finish at all . Just takes swipes at the ball and gets lucky like shit hitting the fan. Some of it will stick, most of it goes all over the shop. He's only marginally better than Ayew, the lesser of two evils so to speak. 2

Since Ayew signed he has 10 league goals in 2 divisions Daka has 3. He runs and smiles though Edited 21 February by HankMarvin 3

That summer put us back 15 years. Heads should have rolled for it yet here we are, living with the consequences with the same people in charge. Both signings had this forum buzzing when they were confirmed as well. 1

HarryDee8 Posted 21 February Posted 21 February Surely there's a £1m pound man from the likes of Fleetwood town we could recruit?

I'm not sure he's a better footballer. Ayew seems to do whatever he wants, and to the detriment of the team. Drops deeps, leaves their CBs free to do whatever they want. He drops to the floor expecting to win free kicks at minimal contact. He's selfish, takes poor free kicks and corners. For such an 'experienced' player, he plays like he's totally new to the game and hasn't grasped what professional football is like. 3

How about try another option, play some fat bastard out the cop, will the strike rate improve or be similar? 1
Joe90 Posted 22 February Posted 22 February Watching daka from a good height up (yesterday at stoke) is so infuriating, how an earth is this complete tool a professional footballer, he offers absolutely nothing there was times we were counter attacking and he didn’t give options for the player on the ball no intelligent runs, the blokes dreadful he is absolutely stealing a living here🤬! No I don’t think Ayew is any better neither!! No one can argue we have the worse strikers in probably the clubs history certainly in my life time! Very concerning as this could be the difference from staying up and relegation 2

Though our strikers are poor, we're getting enough from elsewhere to carry them. Goal scoring is the least of our worries, we've got 4 more than Millwall who are 3rd.

My point is the ball falls to daka or Ayew last minute Blackburn away no confidence in neither bloody hell they won’t be even in a position to get ball 🤣, yes your reply will be we rely on our midfield and that pisses me off

Our options are very limited and Daka is the best of a bad pair.

sm1 Posted 22 February Posted 22 February If we're expecting our striker to play with his back to goal and link up play, we might as well throw Aribo up top. He's a big unit and used his strength to shield the ball well against Stoke.
jammie82uk Posted 22 February Posted 22 February 16 hours ago, LCFCJohn said: Both signings had this forum buzzing when they were confirmed as well. A main issue I don’t think is spoken about often is that nearly every striker we have signed in the last 15 years or so previously played in a 2 striker system before joining us and we ask them to play up front on their own, Vardy has been the only one who has really managed it but arguably even he was better with a partner, Nugent,Okazaki, iheanacho, you could even include Mahrez into that with the little defensive work he did and in turn those partners often had better games when paired with another Daka came with a decent goal scoring record albeit in what is considered an “inferior” league but that was also part of a 2 man strike force
