I feel like it is rather obvious he must have some kind of clause in his loan that means we have to buy him or pay something to Leipzig if he reaches 20 starts, been stuck on 19 for quite a while now

Think we'll basically get it confirmed on Sunday. Sharky just came back from injury and played 80ish minutes, Barnes had a shocker and played the full 90.

If Lookman doesn't start on Sunday then we basically know for sure.

They were playing PAOK at home. Under has always looked like the type of player who would do well against poor teams or in a really good teams vs fodder to turn a three nil into a five nil, but he's flawed at trying to break down a decent defence. He wouldn't have made a difference vs PSV last night.

 

You have a point on Lookman though.

Why on earth was he playing up front for over 10 minutes when Daka was on the bench. Harvey should have moved centrally if he wasn't going to bring a forward on. Made no sense to me, obviously he looked naff as a centre forward he has none of the physical attributes for it.

...I  was expecting Barnes to go forward and Lookman to go to the left!!!

He is in general out performing Barnes and Daka this season so I would certainly pick him up if the financials can be sorted. He is PL quality even if he will probably never be a main man.

Excellent competition for Barnes. We still need a left footed right side attacking player. Seems a no brainer that we pick up his contract if he wants to stay. Plenty of game time if he keeps this up.

no Barnes is the better player but he is good back up and competition, worth signing for that alone

Personally I feel he's done enough to secure a permanent move here. 5 PL goals isn't it? What price tag would he come with?

He adds a little element of unpredictability. No, he's not Mahrez or even Barnes, when he's at his best, but Lookman is a consistent 7/10 and can do a few things.

 

For me, he's the player we wanted Perez to be.

Its about consistency. We have seen how KDH, Mendy and Amartey keep turning in a solid shift almost every match and he does the same. It gives us a strong base for more creative players to express themselves. This all makes for a balanced squad. I really think that their example has influenced Maddison to push himself back into top form.

In three seasons, Perez has 12 goals in 3 seasons, including 2 seasons where he had been nearly undroppable. Lookman has nearly half that in less than one season where he has never really had a run of games. I think it's a steal (although the AFCON thing will suck.)

Lookman + 1 of Madueke/De Ketelaere i’m guessing. Doubt we will sign all 3? We might have Madueke wrapped up early on like we did with Soumare, so it’ll be a shame to miss out on De Ketelaere.
