Boubacar Kamara solves our lack of CB/CDM issue in one signing, he can comfortably play both.

Progressive, quick, agile etc etc, everything Vestegaard isn't.

Although sadly, think the chance to sign his has gone, we're currently looking like a mid-table side and he should have been brought in during the summer.

Maybe not for January 2022 but most certainly a huge improvement in the short to long term, I want to see us make a strong attempt at overhauling our academy. I'm still not convinced it's happening to the level it ought to, but happy to be proven wrong.

We make half arsed attempts to sign talented player in the 16-20 age range but in reality we still don't do it seriously enough compared to the likes of Villa and Leeds who are comparable clubs to us. We should be the go to club in the Midlands, not Aston Villa and every year that hasn't happened it's less likely to or ought to as they close the gap on us as the best club in the Midlands.

Now that it's nigh on impossible to snap up overseas youngsters for our academy it makes nailing the domestic market even more important, but I don't see evidence of it at U23 level.

To be fair their defense is much better now conceding less goals than last season with Hasenhuttl's preferred defenders

I've been reasonably impressed with Hasenhuttl. He managed to put some shocking results behind him and his Southampton team still eek out wins when you least expect them to.

Alan St Maximann, Kalvin Phillips, Tariq Lamptey and Tarkowski please

Yeah, that's a decent list lol

I do hope Lamptey has a smooth return from injury, he looked a real prospect. I have a feeling both him and Phillips may be a little out of our range, unfortunately.

ASM must be about the only player Newcastle will want to keep, maybe Wilson too. I'd still take Tarkowski though

Any good defenders we could get from RB Salzburg?....Ric Flair seems to know about talented prospects

No standout talents at CB there at the minute IMO. Got a Polish and French lad they've signed in each of the last 2 seasons that might develop but not sure they are there yet.

Liked the look of munir el haddadi. Can play as a lw rw and a cf. Not being used at sevilla. Would be cheap. Has scored a decent amount..

It'll certainly be interesting to see if Allan St Maximin fits into the Newcastle revamp. Short term, he's the standout player by a country mile. Long term, who knows. For me a similar likeness to Traore at Wolves. Pulls defenders where they shouldn't be. More often than not taking more than one to stop them. I'm not convinced by either of their end products. That said, St Maximim in a Leicester shirt has certain appeal. Traore, not so much.

A player who I was considerably impressed by yesterday afternoon was Spartak's Ayrton. Had pace in abundance, very solid in his positioning defensively and driving forward was a force. Gave old Mr Pereira nightmares in the first half. First time I've seen him play. Can't say I've come across him before but a very strong performance. As the first 11 stands now, without knowing how JJ is going to return, and purely on last nights performance, an improvement on what we have.

I wonder if we could just go in for Saliba. I think we'd be a much better home for him than Arsenal.

The trouble is that Marseille are currently playing him as an RCB, which is Fofana's position in a back three, but I wonder if they could play together in a three or a two-man CB partnership.
