I’d take a straight swap in January.

We should have got Tarkowski when we (supposedly) had a chance to sign him.

Much better than either Vestergaard or Amartey

Burnley wanted £40M for him.

In contrast to some, I think signing another younger CB next Summer would be a huge mistake. If Jannick does not improve, and Jonny continues to have injury woes, even more so.

Richards is very much a Leicester signing, and he looks decent, but we are desperately short of nous, especially at the back.

One would think that with Evans, Vestergaard and Bertrand, we already have enough "nous" lol

I realize many equate "nous" with experience and age, but one can be young and still possess nous.

Nonetheless, if we can't get both ability and nous, ability should be placed ahead of "nous" (and age/experience).

.. it would have cost us £35- 45m for Burnley to have let him go!!!

There was no way we were going to be paying that much with less than a year left on his contract.

Foreseeing the problems we have encountered with Vestergaard would have taken  some mystic to explain.

A slight defensive reshuffle is needed, but it’s going to be extremely difficult to do in January, ideally we need a quality long term replacement for Evans and someone who is more comfortable than Soyuncu at LCB, if Soyuncu’s shaky performances continue I’d cash in.

Statistically I’d go for Dunk over Tarkowski, De Vrij is the guy I’d go all in on though, linked in the summer but the problem with him is Raiola.

As for LCB, Schlotterbeck is a good shout, definitely a player worth keeping an eye on. Sven Botman and Attila Szalai are two others I’d look at.

A midfield shuffle is much needed too, would probably be easier to do in January, as we only need back ups. Choudhury, Mendy & KDH, don’t fill me with confidence atm.

...can't see anything happening in January!!!

I’d also be tempted to bid for Sam Johnstone who is out of contract this summer. Not convinced Danny will be number 1 when Kasper retires and Johnstone could be worth a punt as always rated him

Only a highlights reel, of course, but Richards looks a bit Fofana-ish to me, and his long passing ability would be a boon to our forwards.

Oh, and I liked the way he tried everything to prevent giving away a corner.  Some of our defenders could learn from that.

Ward deserves to go and be 1st choice somewhere. Our long term plan is Iversen and Young. Ward may well be sold this coming summer IMO

I like what I’ve seen of Iversen but needs to have played in the premier league before taking over as number 1 imo

Too soon?

Kylie in a neglige, Nick Cave on the iPlayer, candles, a roaring log fire, and enough fancy foreign beer and pizza to kill a brown bear.

...I  get the feeling that Rodgers wants to play with a back three!!!

Very much needs proper Wingbacks as our present options are more proficient in a back four.

With a Tarkowski in the backline and the other CBs with pace, it will allow us to press high and give support upfront and retrieve balls lost in open play more quickly.

We get this setup in place and the defence does not come under so much pressure, as we are effectively defending from the front.

Yeah I think JJ can definitely be a wing back he can assist and score, Ricardo could do the same,  but Catagne and Thomas are very good full backs but not wing backs. I think Gosens has 2 goals and 4 assists in 13 games before he was injured this season. Also we'd need another CB, I don't think we've lost a game with Evans, Soyuncu and Fafana playing but the minutes they've all been fit at the same time is minimal.

Nice. I’m all over that.

He looks a player, think we might have left it a bit late now though.

Possibly, It's hard to understand how we passed on him in the Summer in favor of Vestagaard.

On the other hand we paid 40 mil for Fofana and Richards looks equally as good a prospect.

We could probably get him for 15 to 20 mil but we'd need to move quickly if we want him.

Josh Coburn from Middlesbrough and loan him back out to them, to aid his development.

Think he's got a great future, potentially.

The choice wasn’t Fofana and Tarkowski, it was Fofana or Tarkowski. And that’s if one even believes there were ever any real negotiations with Burnley or Tarkowski.

That would be an unexpected and disappointing surprise. You can have the very full bear.

I’ll take what I can get.
