Please can we just sign a big physical dirty bastard centre half that can take charge and deal with any incoming set pieces🙏 Might get everyone going!

Like Vestergaard but good?

I’d take smalling all day long, I don’t care if there not great on the eye just need someone that loves defending and leads by example

We didn’t go wrong with the last ‘rejected’ Man Utd defender we signed… He had his flaws, but Alex Ferguson was pretty good at picking out defenders…

Been hearing good things about Candace, think we were linked a couple summers back iirc

Why are you all worried about set pieces when it's not been an issue since Brendan arrived?

It doesn't matter if it's not been an issue previously, it certainly is now.

Not sure we will get another centre back in, unless on loan, when we will have 4 plus Vestergaard (can’t include him as a defender) in the squad soon.

Agree that we need to prioritise getting a CB.

Smalling on paper looks a solid signing but we seem to do better buying younger, hungrier players with a higher ceiling. There's not many bad transfers we made since that awful 2016 summer transfer window, but the two most disappointing are Perez and currently Vestergaard, both of whom are established PL players.

Vestergaard is starting to look like an awful signing, but Pérez ain't near that. Over-priced and dissapointing d yes but not awful

The signing of Vestagaard has been a total disaster, And no Brendan he isn't going to get any better. get rid of him in January and sign a proper CB.

That American CB we were interested in  might be a good shout.

If we wanted a tall but tough cb should have gone after aguerd from rennes. As a moroccan been watching him and he's solid all around. Let's be honest though, Rodgers ain't going to sign another cb. Doesn't want to ne proven wrong regarding Vestergaard. Say what you want about Ranieri but when a signing like Luis Hernández didn't work out it was clear he'd leave and claudio would admit it. Rodgers, not so much

Didn't say Perez was awful, said he was 'disappointing' which I don't think many people would dispute.

I think we should have gone Andersen from Lyon who was on loan at Fulham last season.  He and Lookman were their two outstanding players. Clearly he has kicked on at Palace now. He had two howlers against us but that’s been it this season. He was magnificent against Man City.

He’s also got some pace and ball playing nous too.

The guy with no experience? Chris Richards? I hope you are thinking of someone else.  lol

He had joined Palace before the Fofana injury so doubt we would have been looking at him as a target before that

Yeah, could be it. I liked him a lot generally but timing probably didn’t work. Vestergaard was definitely an emergency signing

Just think Vestergaard was emergency, brought in to provide experience as Jonny was going to be missing for god knows how long. I also suspect we already knew how crap he was in the air before we bought him.

......Vestergaard's experience not helping him at the moment!!!

We wanted experience so we ignored potential talent, it seemed a good plan at the time, Vestergaard's shortcomings has brought this to a head.

Chris Richards looks like a find, we will not be looking in his direction, although I believe we should.

I looked at tozan from Fulham as well. (pardon don't remember his name, i think he's Nigerian, adebiayo last name or something like that.) but him and andersen were very good tbh. I think we payed too much attention to premier league proven. We did need a leader but when was Vestergaard ever that? Tarkowski was the ideal option but Burnley aren't stupid. Seems like we'll regret thr Vestergaard signing.

Not sure,  that might be him. I think he's playing in Germany. I haven't seen him play myself so I can't tell you if he's any good. Though he has a promising reputation. As for experience, neither did Fofana and he was doing very well.

Vestagaard has lots of experience and he's rubbish .

So you take your chances I suppose.
