I think he was supposed to go to Milan but obviously didn’t happen. He’d be another pick for an incoming.
cruzFOX Posted 2 September 2021 Posted 2 September 2021 Jeez - all I want for Xmas is everyone to stay fit and no more long term injuries. If we can get players back playing I’ll be happy. Sick of this voodoo hampering our season every year!
FoxyLeon Posted 2 September 2021 Posted 2 September 2021 Between now and next summer the clubs job is to tie up the contracts of those we want to keep. Give me a Tielemans+Soyuncu+Pereira extension, then I couldn't care less about any movement in January. 2 2

Gazza M Posted 3 September 2021 Posted 3 September 2021 A new training schedule where we aren't running our players in to the ground.
Jazzy_Jeff Posted 3 September 2021 Posted 3 September 2021 Contract renewals and loans to replace any new long term injuries (hopefully none 🤞) Our squad depth is improving year on year. If by the end of next summer we’ve signed a new holding midfielder and right winger as well as keeping the current squad in tact (bar Choudhury & mendy) we’ll be in a great place
Dahnsouff Posted 3 September 2021 Posted 3 September 2021 As @NewquayFox has taken us down a food avenue here, I would like decent poutine in the UK 1

We might then see if there's a team desperate enough to pay a bigger fee than we could attract in the summer. Who would look at buying Soyuncu for a big fee after his recent performances?
Analysethis Posted 3 September 2021 Posted 3 September 2021 He retired 2 years ago and is now a coach, but if Ronaldo can carry on playing, this youtube sensation can surely make a comeback at 35? If not him, I`ve heard Fofana has persuaded this dude to sign on a free in Jan. You heard it here first

A lot can change in a few months. Evans back soon and Soyuncu may suddenly be back to his dominant self but maybe these recent horror shoes benefit us more in the long run 😂 1

lcfc sheff Posted 4 September 2021 Posted 4 September 2021 If we sort out contracts were half way there… sell maddison and soyuncu and replace them with cheaper, but ultimately better players. Simples.

Simples. In the real world it's not easy. We sold Kante, Ndidi is good but not better. We sold Mahrez, less said about the replacements the better. We sold Maguire, Soyuncu better, I'm not convinced We sold Chilwell, probably could argue that Justin maybe better in time. Selling those players allowed us improve the first 11 overall and the squad, but sell and buy better players isn't that simple. I think we have moved pass the point of selling 1 player and buy 2-3 players with the money.

And it was more a tongue in cheek comment about it being simple 😀
FoxyLeon Posted 4 September 2021 Posted 4 September 2021 There's a lot of very very good players available on a free next year. Boubacar Kamara being one. Botman is allegedly available for £30 million. Kamara available on a pre-contract from January. Houssem Aouar was available on a loan this summer, and is out of contract in 2023. We're probably our stadium expansion away, from being able to afford the wages of our current squad, and 2-3 of the above though. 1

If for example, we rated Kamara at say £30 million..... Why wouldn't we be willing to pay that as an agent fee, instead of a transfer fee?

I'm not saying we never would, but one of the reasons we don't tend to sign free agents is because they are difficult deals to do and the fees involved for the player and agent is absolutely wild.
majaco Posted 5 September 2021 Posted 5 September 2021 In January, I hope we make very few signings. We have strength in depth in most positions. Our squad is full and we need to work out who is to move on if we are to continue to strengthen the squad. We may sell one or two excellent players as we could struggle to keep all the players happy. If all our full-backs were fit, I would imagine at least one would feel a little disgruntled at lack of game time. If things are going well, hopefully there will be no need to buy in January. If we are doing well with a settled squad with few injuries, this would be ideal. 2
