I suspect that is the default, knee jerk instinct of the club. Control freakery and deliberate blocking of anyone travelling who might be male, under 90 years of age and doesn't carry a Teddy bear to the games. 

 

However, the sheer logistical headaches and pressure (since the onus being on the tour operator to check the fit to fly  paperwork) has probably brought about a complete panicked freeze of David duckenfield proportions.

Just been reading the ticket information for Napoli fans for travelling over on Thursday. It looks like from what I can make out is that they have to go through a separate tour operator who are distributing the tickets and doing a day trip on a chartered flight only. 
 

Maybe rumours of us doing the same for Warsaw are true then 😭

No, they aren’t doing that. They are just giving the option. Plenty of UK based Napoli fans buying tickets for the game

Sport Options are gonna do a flight to Warsaw from East mids. But they steer clear normally of anything involving tickets.

 

How hard would it be for the club to sell tickets only and 'recommend' a preferred tour operator for travel? 

 

They really do make a pig's ear of anything ticket wise. Trying soooo hard not to do anything wrong, we just end up with total inertia. Last season's fans' ban must've been a godsend to the club

The club sold tickets without travel for every CL game so it is not like they haven't done it. Let's just wait and see what the club announce.

you still need a visa for Russia though.  You have to apply in person at the Russian Embassy in London and it can take up to 21 days to get.  Russia will be out of the question for most.

But it's about being helpful. Some holding statements. Is it that hard to be decent and helpful?

 

'The club are working on ticket only and ticket and travel packages. Please monitor this page and/or our social media channels for news. We intend to hold an allocation for priority points holders and a separate allocation for members'

We can all dream! Would be nice, they normally do it for domestic cup games, all very generic. They probably are still working it out themselves.

You’re being a bit kind on them there. I personally think when it comes to ticketing the club know they have fans by the balls and very often see an away allocation as a problem to get off their hands in a way that is as easy for them as possible regardless of the impact on match-going supporters.

 

No need for the ticket collections in CL cities but saved them the hassle of posting out and having to organise anything other than a couple of collection tables at a hotel of their choosing (regardless of how inconvenient they were to get to - I.e. Porto). No need to stipulate that all LE postcodes had to travel on a bus to Wembley but was their easiest way to fill a quota. No need to give a load of tickets to hospitality and friends/family for the play-off game at Watford but was the simplest way to shift tickets quickly.

 

It’s all about control and ease for the club when it comes to ticketing, nothing about helping.

Wouldn't want to risk a ticket in someone else's name either.

Unlikey to make members buying covid times who knows. 

 

You won't get a ticket in someone else's name if they stick to the CL collect in person rules.
