That's why a decent fan park and also promotion of other local pubs and restaurants needs to be a key strategy in any expansion. You need to give people a reason to stick around at the ground or a short walk away to ease congestion.

True but they'll be many 1000s out of 40,000 that will never want to stick around, especially after a defeat or a poor game.

Hopefully not staggered enough to  have cause to leave at half time like some Spurs and Man U fans recently 😏

The problem with any form of transport is taking the fans away after the game, they arrive in dribs and drabs but all or nearly all want to exit at the same time, trains, trams and P&R can't cope with that.

To be fair Brighton manage it pretty well. You get away from the ground pretty quickly and are taken to an area which isn't too populated so you're back on the road much quicker than I'm able to currently after a game at the KP.

Back in the day at Filbo you could get in free at half time as they opened the big exit gates. Happened to me a few times for night games with doing overtime and walking to the stadium.

Yes, but if the areas around the stadium were full of restaurants and bars, a few thousand would still stay in the area for longer. We walked into town after the Arsenal game, with thousands of other people, looking for a bite to eat and a drink.

Yeah I accept that but that still leaves 30K+ trying to get away at the same time. Public transport would be hard pushed to cope with that so it's not going to stop a large number from coming in their cars especially as so many live in the County.

I'm not saying they shouldn't try, I've always been a big fan of the Ivanhoe line and it would have been great if my Narborough train carried on the the 'King Power Station' as the more options the better.

I would estimate a good 60% of a typical home crowd come from the County. The club would have the correct stats. And I'd guess almost all those journeys are made by car.

In the absence of an almost non existent rsil network in Leicestershire, Free county wide bus travel for ticket holders would be a huge positive step.

Ratby. Fleckney. Birstall. Coalville and countless other county towns have no rail service but do have arriva or first bus serving them.

30K is less than most leave at the moment when a full house?

Add special park and ride services just for the matches, too, and they might get somewhere...

My next door neighbour was head of security at Filbert street in the 80s, As a student I never had any money so he used to let me in via the main entrance in the main stand. Two years of dross for free.

Just waiting for the council to validate the plans. Should be available on their website soon but could be anytime between now and a few weeks.

The problem I see there is Fosse Park, now with it's various new shops. The area, particularly at Christmas is already grid locked at the weekends and I could see it only getting worse if a few thousand football supporters descend on the area to catch a tram.

I recently parked due to necessity on one of the various charity car parks on the Freeman's Common area. It was after the game that I remembered why I stopped parking there after queuing for over an hour. Historically, police or later, traffic wardens were used to dissipate the traffic quite quickly but no longer due to genuine other duties I suppose and disbanding of traffic wardens. I'm sure people would use trains if the timings in and out were a little more thought out.

.....these charity car parks I am assuming are the carparks for business not operating at the week ends!!!

I know of someone who worked up there who elected to come and park in the carpark of the business where she worked and someone was there charging her money for a parking space she uses Monday to Friday.

She was informed that it was on behalf of a charity that the revenue were eventually to be distributed, the business owner was not aware that his premises was being used in this way and if she had not come in that day they he would never have known.

Was it a scam and not charity related?

Wow! Unbelievable eh. The one I went on was an MS charity one of which I think there are a few. I know of one such car park that is definitely genuine due to the fact I have an ex work colleague who suffers from MS himself and he used to stand on the car park as a volunteer to collect for them. Does make you wonder though doesn't it.

I’m wondering what they have up their sleeve for the E.on site they’ve bought

The stadium plan already contains multiple ancillary buildings (new club shop, hotel, flats, arena)

I’m struggling to see what they will do with it tbh - so assuming it could just be more flats?

Could be a case of just buying the land in case they need it in future. They could rent out the buildings in the meantime.
