Popular Post stu Posted 25 October 2021 Popular Post Posted 25 October 2021 (edited) Leicester City Football Club has submitted its hybrid planning application to Leicester City Council for the proposed development of the King Power Stadium site. The submission follows an extensive pre-application public consultation, which ran between August and September this year. During this period, the Club received thousands of pieces of written and in-person feedback from stakeholders throughout our communities, including local authorities, businesses, community groups, neighbours, fans and other interested parties. The response during the consultation period was overwhelmingly positive and the Club would like to express its sincere thanks to all participants for the level of engagement and constructive, valuable feedback that has contributed to the hybrid submission. The application will now be validated by Leicester City Council before being determined by the planning committee in the first few months of next year. Ahead of that decision, the Club hopes to be given permission to start some early enabling works on site, which it applied for last month. Leicester City Football Club revealed initial plans for the expansion and development of King Power Stadium earlier this year, as part of a public consultation that shaped the Club’s planning submission. Since introducing its proposals to the public in August, the Club has completed the acquisition of a further property adjoining the site, previously occupied by EON. While this area does not form part of the current hybrid planning application, its acquisition will enable the Club to consider its potential role in the site’s future development in due course. The Club extends its thanks to its external project team – including project managers Legends International; planning and development consultants Turley; and architects KSS – for their ongoing contributions, and Leicester City Council for its participation and consideration for the project to this stage. Having now shared our proposals with a diverse range of stakeholders in the city, the Club’s belief in the project’s transformational potential has been strengthened. We look forward to continuing to work with our community partners towards the realisation of that vision. Edited 25 October 2021 by stu 11 3
Happy Fox Posted 25 October 2021 Posted 25 October 2021 I wonder what the EON space will be used for?

If it's not valid it can't go out for consultation etc. Might take a little while to validate I imagine with all the documents and bits needed for something on this scale 1

Sounds like they are very keen to get started and we should be seeing some work going on very soon. Can't remember what the enabling work involves. Demolition of the old National Grid building?

Yep that and rerouting utilities (gas/electrics /water). It’ll be bloody extensive! 1

Foxes96 Posted 25 October 2021 Posted 25 October 2021 Could we not move the parking to the Eon site, and then would allow more space if we chose to expand the south stand in the future? Would also fit with the parking being on the corner next to the main roads and residential tower and hotel what i believe it’s primarily planned to be used for? Could also then have a smaller parking if needs be for the stadium/ arena where the parking is currently planned for? 3

Susan Whelan and the rest of the project team confirmed on the fans webinar that the stadium can be expanded further with the current plans in place, so not sure if the car park will move or whether they’ll look to incorporate another revenue generating build into the plans? 1

Thanks. Would’ve thought the potential acquisition of the Eon site would’ve crossed their minds so hopefully they already have something good in mind for that area 1
David Hankey Posted 25 October 2021 Posted 25 October 2021 Excellent news of this well kept secret. I just hope the Leicester City Planning Dept don't drag their feet and get on with approving the plans so this long awaited project can commence. Onwards and upwards!!
Popular Post Focks Posted 25 October 2021 Popular Post Posted 25 October 2021 I used to work in that Eon building with Gok Wan 1 4

Exciting times!!! 2

They may wanted something grander as the 'face' King Powers presence on the site. 1

I initially also though that there doesn't look enough space to develop the south stand, but on closer inspection you'll notice that the cladding comes out much further than the seating. So, there is more space there for development than it first appears.

Good way for King Power to maximise their income . If you look at the Leicester Universities Welford Road development you could easily build 2-3 midrises on the plot.

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 25 October 2021 Posted 25 October 2021 Obviously an increase in capacity will be great and is badly needed, but I do not at all want the area surrounding the ground looking anything like Brentford's ground did yesterday. Felt like I was going ten pin bowling followed by the new Bond movie rather than the football. 2
Fox in the North Posted 25 October 2021 Posted 25 October 2021 FYI the enabling works took about 5 days to be validated so the documents might not come up on planning until Friday or next Monday at soonest. 1

mozartfox Posted 25 October 2021 Posted 25 October 2021 After listening to Thomas Frank post match yesterday, I am really surprised Brentford did not copy Spuds and erect a big Cock on the roof of one of their stands. 3
