...didn't someone say it would be prohibitive due to the extensive cost in maintaining the rail lines!!!

A monorail is an interesting idea but the financial return would be limited unless we broaden the project and start to compete with the existing rail services.

No, there is funding in place for a feasibility study and the council's along the various areas are all in support, as are businesses like amazon.

It is still used as a railway line for freight, just not passenger services.

It is one of the main projects that it being inspected by the government as part of the re-opening of the railways.

There was a vote the other week in the PL to ban owners from sponsoring their own teams and we voted in favour. Newcastle are a bit salty about it because King Power have sponsored us for years.

But strangely they fail to mention that if anything the sponsorship was underpriced😂

It was underpriced due to the relevant Premier League rules -- You can sponsor the team, but it has to be at market rates. The only way to be safe is to pay well below market rates. The shirt sponsorship deal proved that. I am sure the club could make a lot more officially from the stadium rights than from King Power, but I am not sure King Power would go for it: It is the only way the brand is known outside of Thailand.

It’s well below market value

Was similar with the shirts

The club is managing losses ref uefa FFP which is, I believe, more stringent than PL

the hooha over newcastle  could mean that KP has to lose the stadium naming rights …. We would be better off financially if they did although given the small amount they are paying, I wonder if they can retain the naming rights without paying anything to avoid the issue?

I mean, I am not sure King Power needs it right now -- it has achieved its goal of name recognition. I mean, there are political considerations for the King Power group, but it's not like a Thai company became shirt sponsor. But I just have a feeling they want a big giant King Power on that expansion.

can we not just turn it back into a train line that drops off at the King Power?  that way, I can catch the train from Ashby all the way through to the KP!  Much better solution!

Most people drive to the stadium and will probably continue to do so. The point of the road would be there are no junctions- therefore traffic moves straight into the car parks at the stadium.

The train track could be left in place, in grooves, so the occasional freight train can use the line.

Of course they do, because there is no alternative currently!! But ya know.... Build it and they will come!

Just wait till Newcastle’s new fans hear about us and Trestellar Ltd.

Been a bug bear of mine for a while, that ticket holders should receive free leicestershire wide public transport on match days.

Would be great PR for both bus companies and club. Bus companies also get chance to welcome new users and a shed load of freebies at the club. Club gets its green credentials

I agree, and the club could even give the transport companies a grant for the plan. Only problem is the sheer number of transport companies in the county.

Let’s miss out on additional cumulative attendances of 120,000+ every season for the sake of the ground not looking full in league cup ties

But why would you expand when you can't fill every seat at every single match...

We should be reducing our stadium to 8,000 so no game ever fails to be sold out.

It's not about midweek games in a cup competition most people have given up on. It's about the fact that obtaining a season ticket (by far and away the most cost effective way of watching games) is, and has been for a while, effectively a closed shop.

Obviously the East Stand expansion plans and the wider development of the surrounding stadium area look very exciting and along with the world class training facilities at Seagrave both will no doubt help take us to the next level as a club.

Anyone know if there is scope to increase the West Stand to mirror the proposed East Stand in the long run?

Also, as LCFC have very recently just purchased further land on the EON site, any whispers what the club has got planned for this acquired land yet?

The West Stsnd would be the last thing they'd expand although a refurb seems more likely.

Nothing been said or rumoured re the EON site.

I used to work in that Eon building with Gok Wan

Shhh, the last thing we need is the whole thing being scuppered by the building being made Grade 2 listed because of it's historical significance!

So do we still play in the stadium as it's getting done but reduced capacity?

Believe they've said the east stand renovation could happen without impacting supporters. Assume we'd do the last knocking down stages during summer

I can't see how something of that scale could get done over 12 weeks or so but if it was always designed to be expanded maybe it can.

You can build the second tier behind the the east stand without affecting the existing stand and then take off the roof and connect closed season.

I think Liverpool did it like this and capacity was unaffected.

Monorail station. It's happening!

I wish.

Ground is terrible for parking. Tram would be a brilliant idea.
