People like to stick the boot in on Solskjaer but in two full seasons he has finished above Rodgers. Some will say 'well we're Leicester City, we shouldn't be finishing above Man United' but they were absolutely plagued with injuries in the first half of the 19/20 season, were in disarray and at one point we were like 15 points ahead of them. Call me delusional but I don't think that they had a conclusively better starting eleven than us.

We had injuries and Rodgers hasn’t spent £400m.

I didn't dish it out so therefore I'm not taking insults for no reason!

I don't need to grow up thanks, yet again rude! I'm not really sure what your issue is with me tonight but as a woman I wouldn't put up with a rude man in real life so I certainly won't from one hiding behind a keyboard.  You jumped on one comment I answered to someone else and were rude for absolutely no reason. We can differ opinions that's fine but don't say I targeted anyone when in fact you targeted me!

I'm not really sure what your issue is but let's leave it now. I'm off to work a very busy nightshift anyway. Somethings are way more important than this rubbish.

You could make a pretty strong case for either in terms of who had the bigger injury issues during their worse periods that season, but I just had a look back and seen the Man United line-up away at Sheffield United that season...they had a midfield of Pereira, McTominay, Fred and Brandon Williams. That is absolutely revolting whichever way you look at it. Having said that, so is going away to Tottenham with Ryan Bennett, a nearly retired Wes Morgan and a fresh-faced Luke Thomas in your defence. I still feel like we should have finished above them.

Just to be clear, I am referring specifically to the 19/20 season when I say there wasn't much between the two starting elevens. Last season I would say that they should have finished above us and they did, so no complaints from me. I just don't think that Rodgers is an obvious enough upgrade on Solskjaer for them to go for him given how the last couple of league campaigns have gone.

Now more mainstream press are starting to post stories, there is perhaps a bit more sense of realism to it.  None have quoted sources though and the BBC have been silent.

I would be surprised if he goes to them though, I think they will want an elite manager, and doesnt make sense now he has supposedly assured senior players he is committed.

He's probably assured them he's committed because despite the the rumour, even he knows that unless United are completely useless, he doesn't stand a cat in hells chance of getting it. He'd only get it if all other candidates said no or their clubs wouldn't release them.

Why is Rodgers being considered as an elite manager?  What, precisely, puts him on such a pedestal?

I'm pretty sure that poster is suggesting that Rodgers is NOT an elite manager.

If we'd have spent £67.6m (Included add ons) on Bruno Fernandes in he January window rather then splashing the cash on Ryan Bennett  we would have......

Bruno's 8 goals and 7 assists post January was a game changer for them

He's not good enough for Man Utd.  They will surely look for someone far better.

Moyes, Van Gaal and Solskjaer suggests a weakness to their appointment strategy. Brendan is right up their alley.

Add Mourinho to that list too. As a result they end up with a playing squad that is all over the shop because those managers are completely different to one another.
