Someone mentioned Martinez in another thread, thoughts?

one positive he knows youri and the Belgians well, and I believe has a good rapport with them

An interesting one. I've not watched enough of Belgium to know if he would improve us, especially our defending (based on his previous reputation in the PL). I think he's likely to stay with Belgium until after Qatar 2022 though. One last run at a major trophy with their golden generation. If he does well, he can go out on a high. If not, time to move on.

Gasperini?

Would love him. Think he's pretty settled at Atalanta though, sadly.

I mean, if he could that'd be great. Sounds like the beginning of a new chant on the terraces to me 🤔

In all seriousness, like I said to Stan, maybe I'm asking too much or misunderstanding. Like all of us, I'm just at a loss for what needs to be done. And this forum is just a place to vent frustration.

want something to happen that rallies us. A rallying cry from the manager, a resounding win from playing well, or just not conceding...Whatever it is, we just feel like we're breaking down on the pitch and off the pitch in terms of morale. Hell, I'd take a hard fought 0-0 with a couple of shots on target in each half at this point just to stop the rot of conceding game after game.

I was almost saying the same thing to the chap sat next to me yesterday, this negative football has to be stopped and get the lads playing the way we all know they can, whatever had happened to those tenacious performances the games we dig in and fight for every ball the not scared of shooting on sight?

This squad is short of both confidence and leadership on the field yes Kasper blasts out his orders but would it not be better for a captain who actually plays upfront or midfield get the outfield players confidence up kick arse when needed pass out the orders?

Brendan needs to shore up the defence whether that’s bringing Little Wes & JJ back hoping They can pick up where They left off or is it a case of tapping into the Winter Window bringing in a quality hard CB to shore up the defence fix the defence stop the silly conceding then the wins will come ?

Is Ryan Bennett available?

Wasn't he our highlight of a recent January transfer window!

How about a CB partnership of Bennett/Vestergaard ?

😲😭

Yeah I agree, the tenacity and 'Foxes Never Quit' mentality doesn't seem to be there at the moment, for the most part. I'd suggest Albrighton, Vardy and maybe Castagne are still embodying it, but that's not enough. Youri is our 'coach on the pitch', but he's more of a conductor than a leader. It's his skill that sets him apart for this, rather than being the one who can galvanise the team.

I think the corner and set piece issue is purely coaching and system. From what I remember seeing and reading (possibly from @StriderHiryu's tactical breakdowns?), we seem to use half-zonal, half-man-to-man, and it's just been sussed out. The reason I say this is because players have come back who should have made a difference (Evans, Ndidi), but nothing has changed.

I think we do need to dip into the winter market for a reliable centre back, for sure. We almost never use that window though nowadays, but our hand may be forced...

We use entirely zonal marking and it’s crap. Even when we played well the system always looked suspect and was a definitive weakness.

Last time we were good at defending set pieces? When Ranieri put Fuchs and Simpson into the team and we went man for man. The promise of pizza plus Huth and Morgan bring up for the physical challenge sorted it.

A good point here about the Captain. Maybe we are missing the influence of Big Wes more than we realised. It's as much an off the pitch role as on it and perhaps this is now having a negative effect on the unity of the squad

Big Sam Allardyce. Imagine going to the Etihad on boxing day and grinding out the most rancid 0-0 with 15% possession and 0 shots on target and to see Pep Guardiola absolutely fuming in his post-match interview. That's the type of shit I live for.

Hes made a rod for his own back here.

What he said yesterday was silly. Our fans may be emotional and some may have delusions of grandeur, however I don't think deep down are fans are stupid and that's what he's made them out to be.

We may have 'over achieved' but if you do that twice running that's the standard you set. We all know we're capable of better, and he's seemingly no idea as to how to fix our major problems- we give everyone a head start because we're incapable of defending corners.

The answer is apparently personnel but then that's debunked as it's not got any better when players come back, therefore there is something bigger at play but he's absolutely no desire to even explain how to fix it.

How so??

We do have our fair share of stupid fans to be fair anyway lol

By saying players get affected by fans, as if they didn't know that.

Of course they do. The fact is, it was dross yesterday and they deserved booing, he knows that.

You don't take the fans on though unless you have the persona to go with it. Rodgers is very diplomatic and irritatingly unemotional usually so this is a big character shift and I don't think it'll be a good outcome, he's under pressure and doesn't strike me so far as knowing how to get out of this.

Problem is, we need Evans for any of the others to play half decent along side him. But Evans is soooooo slow at releasing the ball. Just takes forever to decide what to do with it. This let's the opposition get back into position and also start their press much higher up the pitch which causes our play to be broken up pretty quick. It's actually a really tough call. Play Evans and we struggle to get out quick, don't play him and we are defensively awful (yes worse than what we are with him)

So you'd rather have Peter Taylor than keep BR?

Talk sport mentioned that Lampard had his head turned towards Leicester in the summer 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ Please no

I'd rather you manage us than Lampard manage us.

A shit manager. If we're lucky Chelsea might let us train their youngsters for them.

The only advantage would be a trying to gauge his weight gain week by week and the ensuing diet conversations that would undoubtedly abound.

Lampard downfall at Chelsea was that he was clueless about defence, don't know how he fix ours

Derby were very leaky under him too. A guy at my old job is a Derby fan and said that they could be good to watch under him but they were a shambles defensiively at times. He actually used the term irresponsible.

I also think given the over achieving comment that he believes he is beyond questioning, almost that he is untouchable, maybe the players and hierarchy are seeing a similar attitude

Ruben Amorim is the one, would apparently cost a lot to get him, possibly even more than we would get from Rodgers going to Man Utd, but I think it would definitely be worth it

After his short spell at Casa Pia (4 games) he was Braga Under 23 manager and then took over the senior job when that manager got sacked

13 games in charge, won 10, drew 1, lost 2 - beating sides like Sporting and Porto to win the Portuguese cup, leading to Sporting spending a similar amount to get him to what we paid for Rodgers and his whole backroom staff (€10 million)

Won Sporting their first league title in almost 20 years last season, only lost 1 league game all season, and conceded just 20 goals

Currently 2nd and still unbeaten after 11 games, having conceded just 4 goals

One of the best up and coming managers around at just 36, below article has a brilliant breakdown of every aspect of his 343 system - @StriderHiryu you will enjoy the article very much!
