Pre-Match Press Conference vs Norwich

Injury news

Jamie Vardy will be out for 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury, Rodgers says.

"Jamie will be out for the weekend and James Maddison should be fine.

"Depends. Could be the next 3-4 weeks (for Vardy).

"Harvey's just come back. He's trained today which is good news. Bertrand probably will be back next week. But all the others are still at least three weeks away. JJ, we just need to get some games into him. He was due to play a game and then he was off for 10 days or so. He's going to be a few weeks away but he's back training which is good news for us.

"We're looking into February with Fofana."

Player welfare

"It is very important. I heard Jordan Henderson speak out last week and he was absolutely right. I'm pretty sure jordan would have been talking more about the physical needs of players. if youre asking a player to play when theyre fatigued then theres a high, high risk of injury. if youre playing a player whos tired because hes overly commmitted and does his ACL for a number of months, thats player welfare.

"Players will play every day of the week. They're great guys and great people. But if there's not a voice speaking out for them their careers and livelihoods are in danger. It's something that should be looked at. We look at it this month, we missed a couple of games. There's talk of our games being rearranged for January which I find ludicrous after the period we've come off. I'm only hoping that the Premier League arent going to force players (to play extra games in January), especially with the Africa Cup of Nations. So I think that voice Jordan talked about - I have total empathy for what he was saying from the playing perspective."

Does he think his voice will be heard?

"Currently at this time, I would say no. We've had various meetings but the football doesn't seem to come into it. It's more about playing the games and what impact that has financially. We're more interested in the physical and mental welfare of our players. I hope that will be taken into consideration in January when there are more demands on players. It wouldn't seem right to then be looking to add more fixtures into that."

Liverpool proving the 'get on with it' case?

What does it mean? "Yeah, we lose our striker. He's a very important part of our time. Maybe for up to a month. That's the result of it. The result was amazing and that's down to the resilience of the players."

Can you fill your bench?

"That's a different issue because I've always been one that promotes young players. But the other issue around that is you bring another player on the bench and though he may not be ready, he's deemed available to play in the biggest league in the world. We'll have players to go on the bench but it's another issue about availability."

Do you want five subs?

"Yeah, 100%. I think that, for me, the possibility to do that would really help to change things. Five subs definitely would help.

"That's what we will do. We'll not get too bogged down on it or use injuries as excuses. We had a great win the other night but now we have to pick it up on Saturday. And they will do. They're great guys. That focus and concentration is very important, particularly in this period. We've at least got a couple of days and we'll do our final preparation for tomorrow. The players who are available will be good enough."

KDH & Thomas

"All the players pasts are different. Kiernan was different to Luke. He's played just over 40 games now and each game he's getting better. He'll have ocme out of this Christmas period with huge confidence. I can see him growing and developing and maturing.

"Kiernan was sensational the other night. I wanted to, along the line, give him a breather but it's been difficult to do that. Having played on Sunday as well and done very well, to play at the level he did against Liverpool was absolutely brilliant. I'm delighted. He's had to be patient but he's shown that he's going to be a very, very important player for Leicester City now and in the future."

Moving in the transfer window

"It's something we'll be looking at. Now it takes on a different focus with the injuries that we've had and from the weekend after having one fit and available centre-half. Money doesn't grow on trees so we'll have to maximise the talent that we have and go from there."

Comparing the Schmeichels

"It's an unfair comparison because Kasper has never played in the teams his father played in. His father was one of the greats of Premier League history and had a super successful career. Kasper is having that as well in his own right. Premier League winner, FA Cup winner. The number of games he's played, his desire to be the best he can be. He's carved out a great career and has plenty of games left in him. He's been absolutely brilliant since the day I walked in here. Off the pitch, a good man who drives players to be the best they can be. Being held up beside his father is always going to be difficult but he's proven, in his own right, to be a top class goalkeeper."

Lol why does he never sound very nice about Luke?

Shame he is toss

Actually improved quite a lot lately for Portsmouth and one of the main reason their form has turned around and they are doing so well

But it is in League One haha

At least January is a relatively quiet month, providing they don't make us play catch up on the Everton/Spurs matches. So Nacho on Saturday, and I am guessing Perez will play as striker for the Watford and Burnley matches, and then fingers crossed Vards or Daka are back for the Brighton match. When is the earliest that Nacho might be back?

Group stage finishes 18th/19th Jan for our players...but final isn't until 6th Feb.

This season is complete carnage isn’t it. The Qatar World Cup in November was a bad idea at the time but since covid it looks worse.

No real opportunity to stretch the season longer than it needs and teams have extra games AOTS. What’s the answer?

There is a free weekend Feb 5th and 6th. One round of catch up games could be played then

Isn't that only free currently because it's FA Cup 4th round weekend?

Suits us to get this game in now to be honest. The alternative is that they get rearranged to jan apparently whilst the players are still away at the afcon 😆

It would really say something if some players boycotted the world cup. They won't but it's ridiculously inappropriate to have them host it, in a covid year, during the flipping winter.

I am still not convinced it will go ahead.

There is no answer. Fifa, Uefa

and the PL all have skin in the game and money to make/lose. Why should anyone of them make way?

It's a ****ing stupid game at the moment.

Same line up as we played against Liverpool, bringing in Barnes or Lookman for Vardy, should be plenty good enough to beat Norwich. Its the games after that where we'll be screwed after the AFCON players go.
